I have a Panasonic 65S60 which is dead. My son cracked the glass/panel (internally) and the TV has the deadly 7 red blinks power error (I assume due to the gasses escaping the screen).
I'm sure others have broken TV's for one reason or another. What do you do ?
Let the delivery guys take it away ? Amazon is delivering a Samsung plasma in a week - not sure Amazon delivery service will haul away. I know brick and mortar stores do.
Is there a market for broken TV's for parts ? If I can get a few bucks out of it, that would be something.
The local TV repair guys would be interested in stripping the circuit boards and ribbons out of it, for repairs of other units. Getting these parts into the repair used parts market.
The internal boards and power supply and even the stand and the cabinet are valuable now that these TVs are no longer available. I'd contact some local TV repair shops and see if they're interested in buying it, or sell it on EBay local or Craigslist for parts.
I used to work at best buy. I remember a guy came in claiming that he didnt want a plasma because if it breaks he'd have to call Hazmat and have in professionally removed. Prob the most logically sound reason not to buy a nice plasma. lol. Just take it to a dump.
Had an accident happen to my 50ST60 that cracked the screen. Talked with the Panasonic repair rep in my area. He has my number and will call at some point in the future when another ST60 set that takes my electronic boards comes up that will be to expensive to repair. He will then take the parts out of mine and I will have a working tv. I put my ST60 into the box of the new tv that I am using now and am storing it. Due to the picture quality of these TV's, I don't want to scrap it just yet.
