No PN8500's here...need help with options.

I'm wanting to upgrade from my 5 year old Panny 65 S2 plasma. I was set on the 8500 but cannot find any except at prices that are well above $3k. BB and Sears had them at $2499 when they were in stock. So now I'm down to a Sammy PN64 5000 or the best 4k set available. We use ours to watch sports, nascar and blueray movies.

I need a new set to get me by until oled is perfected and affordable.

Thanks in advance!

I'm about ready to give up on a 64" 8500. Just can't find them here, even at BB.
I going to go with the 5000 since 3D and smart features don't matter to me. Will I notice a big difference from my Panasonic S2?

I'd say take the H5000 over 4K as long as you can control room lighting. The H5000 will not look good in a bright room and has a highly reflective screen. Remember also that the best 4K sets will cost as much or more than a 64F8500 even at the current inflated price they are selling the 8500 for.
