Panasonic P60GT50 - corner blackening & streak below that - just less than 2 years

Plasma Experts,

I bought a Panasonic Plasma (P60GT50) on 2013 and all of sudden there is blackening on the corner and a streak of light below that - it appears to be growing by usage.

any idea on this nature of issue. any clues on dealing this problem? pls help.

attached a picture of the issue...

I called Panasonic support on this and they suggested defective panel but now it is out of warranty period. (just 1 year)

thanks!

Well that does look like a failed panel.

Did you happen to buy the TV using a good credit card that automatically adds one year to the factory warranty? If so, and if you bought it less than two years ago, i'd open a case with your credit card provider immediately.

If unsure, check the terms of your credit card as lots of guys here didn't realize their card had this extra coverage.

I suspect there is a crack on the edge of the panel (possibly shipping damage that has only just shown up) which is causing the panel to leak gas. It looks similar to the old LG 32" 720p plasmas (32PG6000, etc.) that were prone to getting cracks on the edge of the panel, causing a slow loss of the image (attached)

Unfortunately, there is probably nothing you can do apart from see if you have any warranty. Sorry!

Thanks for the inputs!

I did contact my credit card company (VISA) for this and they refunded the entire purchase price of the Panasonic TV including taxes.

The support from Panasonic wasn't Great but they did offer to discount if I buy a new Panasonic TV again.

But I ended up with a 64 inch F8500 from best buy (that was open box).
