Which do you prefer, and how strongly do you feel about it?

1) Black (dark gray)

or 2) Silver

or 3) no preference?

Well when i owned a Sony Bravia which was a grey bezel with a black strip around the panel itself i thought that was an excellent look. But now with my samsung LNS3251D which is black ... i would never want a silver tv again. A Black Bezel is better!

Panasonic doesn't care. They sold out of every single ugly silver Plasma last year so i bet they'd feel no need to improve the look of their new models ;)

I believe it should be the law that every TV set ever produced in the universe's history should have to be black.

Reminds me of the old Wendy's commercial where someone chooses Hamburger B (the dry flavorless one) because it reminds him of his wife's cooking. I like the ugly silver one.

Well I just purchased the 4260u and it really don't bother me the way it is. Most of the time I'm viewing it is in a total dark home theater room so I can't see it anyway. :)

Black is far better but I would not sacrifice picture quality to get a black bezel.

BTW, someone did show a picture of a Panasonic consumer model (it may have been a 50U) that they had painted black but I can't remember who it was.

I always preferred the understated look and adjustability of the commercial units but thought I needed a tuner and cable card slot (I didn't - the cable card didn't work and I now have a kick-a** dvr so I never use the built-in tuner). I thought I needed built-in speakers (I didn't and could have added them as amps are built into the commercial units). I knew I didn't need a stand since I was hanging it on the wall but I worried about not having the in-home warranty if something went wrong (I still think that’s a legit concern, although nothing's gone wrong so-far). I wound up buying an HP PL5000N last October, which is a Panasonic 50PX500U in an all black bezel. It looks Ok but I STILL prefer the look of the Panasonic commercial sets. If I could get around the warranty issue I'd definitely go that way the next time.

I actually prefer the look of the 600u to either the 60u or commercial :). If only you could control it's overscan/underscan/position like on the commercial models.

I prefer a black bezel...

But, I wouldn't mind a silver bezel if it was all silver. I hate that two toned style, where the outer bezel is silver, and the inner frame/bezel is black.

Also I don't like it when the bezel is thick, example is like the bottom of the consumer silver one. But I'm guessing that's where the speakers are.

This should have been posted as an actual poll. However, all electronics should come in black.

I like black to, however, I'll take a matt silver / matt black over any of the glossy Pioneer / Samsung piano black bezels. That's black gone the wrong way. They catch too many reflections, even more than the panel glass. An example of good black bezels are the Panasonic industrial models. Now if only they had the features of the consumer models.

So nobody is willing to pony up the $10 grand to own this panel:

http://mysite.verizon.net/vzequg9f/t...nother_pic.JPG

because of the silver stripe along it's bottom?

well the 65" 1080p professional (9uk?) panel is apparently "around the corner" and that has an all black bezel

For me, it would depend on the room. As our 60u is going up on the wall in our living room with lighter color walls, I think the silver will 'blend' a little better. Although, that balck bezeled one Bruzzi posted looks nice...

Obviously not as clean as BruZZi's Photoshoped job from post #10 above which is why it's not easy to decide to do it:

Here's another person with examples of why changing the color yourself may or may not be as great as it seems at first:

It isn't practical to paint anything on the set except the duck foot stand.
Also, the front silver 3 x 40 inch speaker panel consists of tiny little holes that would complicate any sort of painting effort to that part of the TV.

Nice, is that Photoshop or real?

Found another real one:

I considered going with paint but didn't want to void the warranty. I checked with Digital Factory but they wanted over $800 for a bezel on my unit! So instead I went with a removable 1/8" plexiglass bezel. I purchased the sheet for $20 at Home Depot and bought a can of black spray paint especially for plastics.

A friend of mine is in custom cabinetry and offered to cut out my design with autocad on a computerized router at his office. I painted the back side of the glass which produced a deep, glossy look since having the clear glass in front of the paint acts like a deep laquer. The bezel is feather light so it's simply attached with a couple small pieces of standard velcro. For around $30 bucks I'm very happy with the results. I plan to paint the stand as well but have yet to do so.

Yep, I painted my 50" 50U Panny black and it looks a million times better. I wont have to worry about that any more thou as Panasonic is OFF my shopping list.
I have a Pio 6070 on pre-order and one of the main reasons Im going Pio and not Panasonic is because the Pio is all black. Even if the Panny had better PQ I would still go with the Pioneer. To say the new silver Pannys are ugly would be an understatement.

I still dont understand why plasma makers cant offer a choice of colors, like black or silver.

If auto makers can offer a choice of colors for a car why cant plasma makers,,,, it just a plastic frame, not a whole car,, well in Panasonics case its a BIG FAT WIDE Silver plastic frame.

Take care Panasonic, nice know'en ya.

You keep complaining about the Pioneer/Samsung piano black bezel, yet no owner of these panels has actually complained about reflections on the bezel...EVER. interesting.
