Hi,
Does anyone know if it is worth it to wait for the new Pioneer elite 60" due out in August? I was told price will be $12,000 Canadian.
I can get current Elite 61" model for under 10,000.
Is the newer model going to be that much better? I cannot find any info on Pioneer web site.

The display of the 61" is three generations back (4th generation design) whereas the new 60" is Pioneer's latest panel design (7th generation) and will be noticably better.

So the question is is the new generation panel and up to date electronics worth the extra $2k+ to you?

I've seen the new 50" (5070/71/72) panel in operation and the picture quality is pretty impressive. I'd have to assume the 60" will be comparable since it uses the same panel design and chassis.

BTW, while the Elite 940 and 1140 are scheduled to start shipping in August, the Elite 1540 (60") isn't due until September. The standard Pioneer 6070 is out in August. That could change but, so far, the new Pioneer's appear to be shipping on schedule.

[Edited to incorporate D-Nice's comment below regarding the panel generations.]
Thanks! :)

Actually the 6100 is based off of 4th Gen NEC tech. Everything else you've said is on the money.

D-Nice you are my guru! I tuned my 930 and 1130 to your specs and WOW! Dude, I have actually toasted you. Any idea on how the new Pioneer 60" coming out in late August is going to be? Do you think it is worth waiting for the new 60" Elite?
