Now back to Japanese High Def....

The video lost focus on the guy on the left cause he was moving his face.

Koda Kumi

BoA

GamerGirl, sorry for the late post... I don't watch J anime.... I used to watch some of those when I was very young. I heard that the High Def J-Anime are coming soon in BD.... I might check them out when they become available..

Lmao no that's not Beyonce. Come to think of it, I'm not sure who that is offhand myself, and I know most of the Japanese personalities. Who is she, Cheeze?

Thanks for the compliment guys!

terminatorbob, I'm pretty sure your upcomming 42" 9UK will look steller! if you feed good quality video to it. It should actually do better in SD contents since the each pixel size is a bit smaller.

Standard DVD movie: Braveheart

Not bad for a 12 year old film on a regular DVD transfer.

i loved this movie so much when it first came out in the theaters... I still love it. I watched it so many times in the theater I don't remember how many times I watched... anyways, I rented one and wanted to watch on my plasma for the first time. Took pics.

The result is, I was impressed, with the the video quality overall.

Hey BruZZi, glad to hear you love the movie as well.. I like the theme song too. One of the best!

I don't know James Horner, but sounds like a great guy. Hey but at least the movie won 5 academy awards including best picture in '95. But yea.. I wish it got the best score too.. I just watched it twice yesterday and taking pics on my plasma and boy it is a pretty solid transfer... Some of the scenes I saw I was like

Cheez, Movies Scores is one of my passions. I like to collect Soundtracks.

My Favorites:

Braveheart & Legends of the Fall by James Horner

Starwars, Superman, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List by John Williams

StarTrek the Next Generation / The Motion Picture Themes by Jerry Goldsmith

Out of Africa, Dances with Wolves & Somewhere in Time by John Barry

Heaven & Earth by Kitaro

Shawshank Redemption by Thomas Newman (Love this Movie and dying waiting for the HD-DVD Version)

The Last Samurai by Hans Zimmer

Gladiatorand King Arthur by Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard (Vocals by Lisa Gerrard on Gladiator are Superb).

And many others...

Yup. That would be perfect.

Well, at least James Horner won the Oscar for Best Score two years later -> Titanic

wow.. you are quite into Soundtracks.

Oh dear... I love the soundtrack from the movie Gladiator. Gladiator is one of the most passionate and greatest in terms of the movie itself and the soundtrack that comes with! There is a theme track toward the end of the movie right before Maximus dies. I love that song, very emotional. I thought Enya is the one did that.. no?

I love movie themes also, especially Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and American Beauty. I think i'm going to get the new Panny 50PZ750u, and the glowing review from HD Guru didn't hurt. As a movie fan plasma is what i need, not an LCD. I must have shadow detail in deep blacks.

hey Parabellum, Ditto that!

My top favorites for epic movies are:

- Braveheart
- Gladiator
- Kingdom of Heaven
- Troy

I almost cried watching Maximus dying at the end of the movie.

I thought you were going to go with the PF9UK (1080p).. But I suppose the 50PZ75U would be better route since it's a newer gen. In any case, good luck with the shopping and let us know how you like the TV..

I can't wait to get Blu-Ray version of these movie titles: Braveheart, Gladiator, and Troy.

I just found out Sophie Marceau is already 40 years old! Time goes by so fast... so fast.. I thought she's 30.

One of my favorites is the epic called SPARTACUS with Kirk Douglas.
When watching it, one must keep in mind that it was made in 1960, but you'll find that many of the later epics, like some of the above, have "borrowed" ideas from that movie. And I consider Gladiator one of the best movies out there.
I wonder how Spartacus looks on a 50" plasma... hmm

Too bad that the Braveheart, Gladiator, and Troy aren't available on BD release..... yet.

Anyways, here are some SD-DVD screenshots. Pictures taken during the day, with the side curtain closed.

Standard DVD: Gladiator
2.35:1 aspect ratio

This is an art...

Nice screen shots Cheez (as always).

Now that I have everything set up the picture seems to be shifted slightly to the left. Any way to adjust that?

Thanks for your help as always....once I get off my lazy butt I'll post some pics!

Thanks sigteacher. I am highly appreciated.

I enjoy looking at my own pictures too. Every once a while I go back and stare at all the screenshots I have posted and then I go mmmmmmmmmmmmm~~~~~ drooling and drooling. I am just being honest here. Why hide the truth

As for the picture being shifted, press the "Picture POS./SIZE" button on your remote. Select the horizontal section and adjust it.
