I'm (finally) going to be getting a 50" plasma (either one of the panasonics or pioneer at this point) and I'm going to get the stand here first in order to be ready for it. I am currently looking for something simple and functional - has to be black.

Are there any particular things I should watch out for? I was looking at this stand:

Thanks,
Chris

Just a quick bump. Where else have you gotten your stand? I'm interested in any shopping tips.

Thanks,
Chris

I was looking for a stand for my 9UK when I got it recently as well. Summary of my findings:

- There is an old avs thread where someone's glass top shattered. The stand itself was ~$1k, not cheap. Many recommend NOT getting a glass top. Why risk/worry about glass when more solid surfaces are available? Of course there are many people who do fine with glass tops. Your choice.

- This is what I was looking for, but could not find anywhere:
- no more than ~$200
- black
- wood shelving
- 2 shelves with the top shelf with enough room for my Energy Connisseur C1 center speaker, 22" wide.

Ikea has some nice ones. The two shelf/no doors Ikea Benno almost fit the bill, except the max load is only 65 lbs (now it reads 88 lbs, strange). The other Benno with doors was also close, but no room for my center speaker.

there's lots of old threads with lots of info. I have yet to find a stand though, so I'm just using my old Walmart 27" CRT stand for now.
