The following posting is about learning the technology as much as it is about fixing my specific problem.

I have a panasonic TH-50PX60U with a native resolution of 768 x 1366 connected to a Windows Media Center PC.
They are connected through a DVI-HDMI cable.
The problem is that when I look at the windows desktop, the picture ( particularly the letters ) is slightly fudgy.
I tried setting the desktop resolution to 720 x 1280 and 1280 x 1920.
Then I realized that the problem could be the native resolution of the TV which is 768.

The question is is this an inherent problem with HDMI as it can only take 720p or 1080i signals ?
( DVI would not have had this problem - as proven by the crystal clear display on my desktop flat panel LCD monitor )

( Am I correct that HDMI can only take 720p or 1080i ? )

If that is a problem with the HDMI, then why did the manufacturers opt for HDMI ( instead of DVI with HDCP ) as they dont care about high quality sound anyway.

By the way is there any way for me to fix my problem without having to use analog component video ( maybe a secret menu or something ).

Thank you very much for reading.
