Hello I just bought a pioneer 5070HD and i must say its an AMAZING television
I am just curious to know what settings would be the best to "break the tv in"
can anyone give me some advice?

Also can someone give me the same advice on the Panasonic 42PX60U??
I bought them both and id like to get some recommendations on the settings to put

For the Panny, just take it OUT of Vivid mode and switch to Cinema or Standard. Then, zero out ( meaning center of the adjustment bar) Picture setting and Brightness settings. Avoid black bars on the sides and top/bottom of the screen. Stick with FULL-screen programming / movies.

Do this for at least 100 hours and then break-in will be pretty much good.

With all due respect, there are already multiple threads about settings and break-in settings on both the Pioneer and Panasonic plasmas if you care to do an advanced search of the Plasma forum.

But the bottom line is to reduce the picture / contrast / brightness / sharpness settings and avoid any sort of black bars etc for the first 100-200 hours regardless of brand.

Welcome to AVS! Here are the links that will answer your question:

Beware the threads are long and it will take several days to find specific answers you may have on this set. You can always just ask at the end of the thread; you just gotta be sure and remember which post # is yours. Otherwise you'll get lost in the rediculously long thread (cuz it's a popular model).
