wow..scary..I did the EXACT same thing. I recall catching this set on sale @ BB about a year after it came out. Its the only thing I specifically requested after the divorce. I still have the 5080 in my basement for TV and PS4 gaming...PQ is still fantastic. I've since landed a 151FD for primary viewing in my LR.

I can't help asking, what did your ex wife to with the cloths that you couldn't get on your back?

I recently bought a Kuro Elite 950HD. I dreamed of owning these sets 10 years ago but couldn't afford it. Now I have finally acquired my first one. Pretty exciting. I'm using it only for discs. No TV, gaming, or streaming. I want to get as much life out of it as I can. My BDP is currently the Sony UHP-H1.

For the past several days I have been reading the old posts regarding the 3:3, 72 Hz conversion.

In the old posts, some people say that PureCinema did not function correctly in these 8g sets. Others say that when receiving a 1080p/24 signal, the Kuro performs the 3:3, 72 Hz automatically regardless of the PureCinema setting. Others say that Advance and Standard are the same at 72 Hz, while OFF and Standard are 60 Hz.

And still others say that because the Euro 950/1150 is only 720p, outputting a 1080p signal introduces more complications.

Was there ever any final answer to these questions?

1. Is the PureCinema feature buggy in this 8g set? Is it not actually doing 72 Hz?
2. Which PC setting gives the right 3:3 72 Hz conversion? Advance? Standard? Would it be different between BD and DVD?
3. Should I output a 720p signal from the Sony rather than 1080p? When watching BD? When watching DVD?

And, would it be wise to set the Sony's output resolution to Standard Resolution rather than AUTO, thereby allowing the Kuro to do the upscaling and apply the 72 Hz conversion?

I apologize for resurrecting this old argument. I see that it became pretty contentious in the past. But I'm really quite confused and I want to get the best out of this set.
