Contrast
(Pitch black room)

if you can spot the bottom right edge of the tv you have the correct blacklevel on your monitor

I know this is not how the picture quality looks on your TV, but the pictures for PI posted here are crushing the blacks, loss of shadow details. It's not an accurate representation of the image. It looks too contrasty to me.

i did some measurements on that scene
the colorshifts must come from the camera or some reflections in the room hitting the glass

but what you can see even at the photo is that the screen is brighter at the bottom.
peakbrightness is set to 120cd/m2

i made a similar test image just to make sure it wasnt from the source.
and it wasnt

i think i have an answer for that
those pictures from Urga are not HDR photos.
you cant capture the whole dynamic range with just one shot,so there will allways be details missing.
to capture every single detail on the screen you need to take several photos with different exposure times and merge them in to one high dynamic range image.

or if you have the money you can go any buy one of those Hasselblad cameras that can caputre a higher dynamic range in one single shot

i use HDR for my photos so every detail down to 0 black is captured.
even a possible low glow to the blacks will be shown in these photos.
thats also why i dont post that many photos in a row here when it takes about 20 minutes to create one of them

Allclear....what is your RGB high numbers? Just wondering what your calibrated numbers are. It's a very interesting finding that started from this post here-

The Official Pioneer 9G Kuro Settings/Issues Thread

I posted mine there too. Is anything over 500 for green too high?

it depends on what VS mode you are using
50vs and 72vs has their own RGB settings in the sm.
whiteballance also changes from 50vs to 72vs so you need to calibrate both if you use both modes.

i use these

Pure mode with 50vs (50hz source/Drive Mode2/Film mode Advance=100hz native)
Color Temp Mid Low
Red:540
Green:507
Blue:500

Pure mode with 72vs (60hz source/Drive Mode 2/Film mode Advance=72hz native)
Color Temp Mid
Red:558
Green:496
Blue:422

you cant raise Green to high from 500 while keeping the others at 500
it will not have have effect on the green color.
what you can do is to lower Red and Blue under 500 instead
that will give the same effect and you will raise green.
try to keep the mean value around 500 for all.

example
R 550
G500
B450

wrong settings
R600
G550
B500

Urgas 5090 in January 2010
Official Pioneer Kuro Pictures Thread.......

just one note
My last 5090 when i bought it in late 2013 had an blacklevel of 0.03Y!
thats a rise from 0.003Y
ansi contrast was only around 5000:1

have you measured the 5090s blacklevel today ?

Black / Contrast above Kuro ...
compared to a new 9G Kuro not by much
compared to an untouched 5090 kuro in 2015...the difference is night and day.

Is it just me or has this thread gradually turned into a boreathon with the same two chief perps having f all better to do than set up their tv viewing rooms into a photo studio with the specific purpose of just taking pretty shots to post on here ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Have you ever thought of just watching the damn things, just a suggestion.

I'm not understanding your problem? This is a pictures thread is it not? Why is that a bad thing for you all of a sudden? You have taken pictures before.

Or are you now an ex kuro owner?

if they are pretty its just because the tv is so damn good.

maybe the bar is set to high here i dont know.
many with cellphone cameras probably wants to take pictures of their kuros but let it go when they see the quality here.
just look at the oled pictures people take with their cellphones.
its easy to think its the tvs that looks horrible and not from the camera

but i agree
it could be more variation of people than it is here.

Edit: its easy to take great pictures from a kuro with its amazing picture quality
but you dont need a photostudio for it.
but you may need a DSLR camera .
