Curious what happened. I assume it was you since you told him "say goodbye"

Did you report him?

Yes I did, he was very abusive and was being obnoxious via PM and I did not like it, and it was not just me he was being abusive towards either.

I thought the whole point of a private message was that it was......private? Why not just block him?

Anyway, these Pioneer threads sure are beyond weird these days. One person put it correctly - "the pioneer club is a real drama show"

Just recently realized Stu is banned too.

Yes I ken, Stu was permanently banned though, Turnip is only on a sabbatical, Yes PM'S are supposed to be private but to be abhorrent in them is beyond the pale, he had to be reported, I can live with it without too much insomnia thanks very much.

I'm surprised Stu hasn't returned.

Meaning what?

If he was doing the same to you get him reported, I wouldn't put up with that as you can see.

Stu has been permanently banned so if he came back he would have to use different details.

Yes he was. His PM's were on very childish and insulting, boasting his magical 500A. I guess he caught me on a good day.

All_clear has been perma banned before, though his handle at the time was pg_ice.

No disrespect but I completely disagree. Did you not see his inexcusable behavior in our last discussion? (The one that got him banned).

He was losing the argument (stuck in a corner actually) and resorted to public personal attacks and name calling against me and another member. His last posts lacked any substance and contained only insults towards me and the other member.

This wasn't the first time that he engaged in this behavior. I will be the first one to report him if he comes back.

Even though I was the first to publicly identify him as the artist formerly known as pg_ice, I didn't report pg_ice/all_clear when he returned because he was/is not nearly as bad as Stu in my book (issue with Rob notwithstanding, as I am not privy to the PM's he received).
craigyboy and agkss like this.

Back on topic... What about a downscaled 4k content makes it a "better" version of 1080p? If its scaled down to 1080p, its still 1080p, regardless of the sources res. Is it the color gamut, or something else?

That's not on topic.

To quickly answer; you get more information using a higher quality source to start with. Sony did a report and they found you can get 20% more detail going from 4K to 1080p. Why do you think those 70mm scenes from The Dark Knight, TDKR, and Interstellar look so good.

Being ON TOPIC is posting a picture/pictures from your Pioneer Kuro tv, so you are off topic as many others including myself keep doing every now and again .

bad language.

Brightness differences with Default ABL and raised ABL.
This is when max brightness from User mode is used (contrast 40)

same settings and exposure time on the camera on both photos
only the brightness from the tv is different.
the complete room lights up when ABL is raised as you can see from the walls

i have all three fans running all the time on the 500M.
with raised ABL the temp has never reached 50c

The benefit with raised ABL in these scenes is not only the added brightness.
Gamma is more correct on the ABL210 photos (less washed out picture)

Edit: may i suggest that some of the Kuro Cops here updates their ignore lists.
it looks that tweaking beyond the service manual adjustment ranges (that only refers New panels not high hour panels with red tint) can be painful for some.
you dont want to be shaken but not disturb from these posts right ?

Main Display - Reseted Pioneer KRP-500M (UK Build)
Second Display - Pioneer KRP-500A
Previous Display - LG 880W OLED
