the complete room lights up when ABL is raised as you can see from the walls

i have all three fans running all the time on the 500M.
with raised ABL the temp has never reached 50c

The benefit with raised ABL in these scenes is not only the added brightness.
Gamma is more correct on the ABL210 photos (less washed out picture)

Edit: may i suggest that some of the Kuro Cops here updates their ignore lists.
it looks that tweaking beyond the service manual adjustment ranges (that only refers New panels not high hour panels with red tint) can be painful for some.
you dont want to be shaken but not disturb from these posts right ?
What the heck.

I have reported him several times for his misdemeanour's and they have delt with PG_ICE aka ALL CLEAR and that should be that from him, if he starts again with another alias just report him via the PM system as I have been advised by admin, I do not wish to expend any more energy on that person, Thanks all.

Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

Wasn't too bad a couple of weeks ago. I didn't use the Kuro much then!

To quickly answer; you get more information using a higher quality source to start with. Sony did a report and they found you can get 20% more detail going from 4K to 1080p. Why do you think those 70mm scenes from The Dark Knight, TDKR, and Interstellar look so good.
Those scenes look good because Nolan rightly refuses to use a fancy digital home video camera in his motion pictures as is the trend these days. He realises there is no substitute for film. When I want to show off my Kuros I use one of his 70mm Imax film camera scenes.

I agree. that too. Digital is no match for film.

I only meant using higher resolution at the source for bluray gets you better results. The same will be true for 4KBD. Start with an 8K master then downscale to 4K.

Movies like The Wizard of Oz which WB already made an 8K master will look even more amazing on 4KBD.

Why of course 70mm IMAX is vastly superior to full HD 1080p / 2K and even superior to 4K.

If I'm not mistaken, 15/70mm IMAX analog film could roughly translated to 90 megapixels, which is nearly three times the resolution of 8K ( = 35 megapixels) which in return is four times the resolution of 4K ( 8.8 megapixels...)

I know you can't reallly compare digital formats to analog film since analog film doesn't really have any pixels at all, but if I remember correctly the experts from the articles I read claimed it would take at least 90 megapixels of digital resolution to supercede the quality of IMAX 15/70 mm film.
