Great shots, I bet this film looks great on a 9G Kuro. I used to have the BR but unfortunately I don't anymore. I haven't seen this since I got my 111FD. Gotta get it again and watch it so I can see it in great quality

It's a pictures thread, so I rolled it back to what seems like the most recent on-topic posts. Might have removed some legitimate posts in the process. If so, I apologize.

Bickering, off-topic discussions, discussions of other members and general all-around nonsense removed. Pictures and discussions of those pictures only, please.

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.

Anybody use 4K blurays with their kuro? pgice, you guys remember him, says they look better than the same bluray playing on the kuro. He says the kuro can handle the 10bit source and does it better than the B6 OLED he had. Which had banding problems. I wasn't sure if the kuro could process a 10bit source since it's not a 10bit panel.

Here are some pictures

Only difference i see in these pictures is that the 4K version is darker and the helmet and face have a deeper color. Says he's using color space 1 with it though. Don't know why.

I think it's great that kuros can benefit from 4K blurays and HDR. I don't know if it's worth it having to calibrate for the HDR conversion to SDR. You get all the details still but there's no HDR standard and you would probably have to calibrate for every movie since the HDR implementation is different.

And honestly blurays already look fantastic. I watched Miss Pergrines Home for Peculiar Children and the PQ was reference. Very colorful, sharp, with plenty of detail and enough dynamic range for my taste.

photo is in adobe rgb profile. colorspace 1 is used because it is the wider colorspace of the two. colorspace 1 covers 90% of DCI P3. UHD is mastered with rec2020 colors so to get close as possible colorspace 1 must be used. its still undersaturated as with almost all tvs but you still see colors that you never see on blu ray with rec709

So many gorgeous pictures! Look fantastic via my Macbook Pro Retina

Kuro owner myself and its hard to imagine better picture quality than a 1.85:1 IMAX 15/70mm scene from The Dark Knight as pictured above.
