Ditto to that... Setup a friends 5080 yesterday and tweaked it before the game some more and there was about 25 people watching and they where amazed on how good this set looked including myself....

Of the current models the Pioneer Kuro/Kuro Elites are considered the best plasmas on the market. Just a matter of what your space and budget allows. If you've got the room and can afford it get a Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO150FD.

By far the Panasonic 65PZ750U is the best Super Bowl TV of this month and next month!

Garmin what settings did you use for the game? I'm interested to see what you find is best for HD Football broadcasts.

I'm curious as well. I used D-Nice's settings with a little bump in the color for daytime viewing. It looked great to me...of course many from the Best Buy generation prefered the super-saturation of the Dynamic setting.

6010FD or the 150FD. The Panny is a good choice as well like Chris mentioned.

Ironic, I actually used D-Nice's settings as well and tweaked it a tad more. I turned down the color saturation of course, and the reds where a tad over the top out of the box, but many manufacturers do this...

Well my vote is for the 103 inch Panasonic Plasma. Would'nt want it for everyday tv or even movie watching but for a Super Bowl Party how could you go wrong with it? Now if only I could find a store without a restocking fee on it, it would be in my house for Super Bowl Sunday only.

Too bad you're not a NYG Football fan, I am; and you don't own a PRO-150FD, I do; because it doesn't get much better for this middle aged man then it did last Sunday!

Interesting, because those settings don't do much for my PRO-150FD.

Are you guys talking about D-Nice's updated (reference) settings, or his original settings for cable boxes and such?

Optivity--what don't you like about them? Just curious.

Flonsta--I'm talking about the reference settings on the first post. I don't know where to find the original settings...you have a link for the 6010? Thanks.

BIGGER is better, according to: "BIG ED"!

Your talking about "1" game! Not even an entire 24 hrs of TV watching.
Your talking about a "party" (I would think). So BIGGER "is" better for "everyone".

If you talking about anything other than the "Super Bowl" telecast; other factors will come into play. And you should have just checked out all the other threads here at AVS.

Butt, if you serious about this thread:
Buy the BIGGEST display you can afford to watch the game on w/friends & family!

Enjoy.

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

Yep, I'd vote for the 150" but it's not out yet but you can buy the 103" Panny right now so run right out & order one.

optivity, Another BIG, OLD TIME GIANTS fan here & I will be watching it on my neighbor's new 50" Panny PZ700 but I'd be happy to watch it on a 2" B&W portable as long as the GIANTS WIN !!!!!!

My daughter on the other hand is a BIG PATS FAN because of her college days in Boston & somehow through friends she knows Brady so we have a slight Family Feud going on.

I have the settings printed out at home for the 5080, but that's it. Other posters on the "Settings and Issues" thread have archived the original settings for use with cable boxes, though, so maybe ask the question there.

Incidentally, the new reference settings don't look great to my eye so far; I actually prefer the factory Movie and Standard settings save for some minor tweakage.

.....mine.

Go g-men, just to ruin the patsies season.

p.s., I wonder if the patsies were (still are?) using high-def video cameras to cheat, and if so, I would love to see it on my 50pf.

The Giants/Patriots game a few weeks ago was awesome on NFL Network HD on my 5080. I'm sure it will be equally spectacular on Fox.

I never liked the original or updated settings and have dialed them in many times to check them out. They seem to introduce too much noise to the image for me. I subscribe to Time Warner Cable and use a SA8300HDC & CableCARD with my PRO-150FD.

I currently use the "Pure" AV setting, w/contrast @ 30, brightness @ +1, sharpness @ 0 and everything else is set to their default values.

While many individuals seem to endorse the settings posted @ the beginning of the owner's thread, this one-size-fits-all approach does not work for me.
