yah sure, but i already paid for the 650 through sears because they said they had it. Alot of people like to know what there buying BEFORE they pay for it. And i shouldn't have to look at a owners manual to see what it has, since there website lists what it has "sopposedly". So clearly there not even sure what it has, yet places like sears and CC somehow find the spec's and list them.

purhaps all this confusion is to bait in buyers with false hopes. Hense a shady company.

I wouldn't let Sears hold my money to long, I think their corporate financing with BofA just fell apart.

Does anyone have specific information on a release date for the new PN58A750T? I wasn't too thrilled about the ToC at first, but the 7 Series LCD bezel is growing on me.

I'm not sure what it is, but I have yet to experience this WOW feeling everyone raves about with the Pioneer Elite & Standard models. I just don't see it & I've watched hours of HD broadcast & BR on a half dozen sets. They have great Black levels, but that's been about it.

Blu Ray: 200
HD DVD: 35

From my best guess I would say the date is mid May. For the PN58A650 and it looks to have the exact same specs as the PN58A750 released earlier this year.

Is this the best info out now?

PN**A550, already released
Black bezel
FilterBright

PN**A650, due out very soon
Touch of Color bezel
Ultra FilterBright
ethernet port
1 extra HDMI

Other than that they appear to be the same? Additions/corrections appreciated.

Additional differences: for the 650
DNIe Pro
ACE2 silhouette processing improvements(improves false contours)
Wheel remote
Higher native contrast ratio. 30k vs 20k.

can't you turn off DNIe which most people would then turn off or is it a permanent enhancer? and a contrast ratio that means just as little as the others? a remote which will be replaced by a universal one and a color feature bezel.......only important thing is the UFB.

I have read some posts where D-Nice has calculated the black levels for the new 9G pioneers, the 2008 Panasonics and the 2008 LG. Does anyone know what the black levels for the 550 and 650 are based on the owners manuals or any other info?

You should pm D-Nice and get him on the case for you.

I know they've been playing games with the contrast ratios, but Samsung's site says 30,000:1 for the 550. Is there really any solid evidence that the 650 will have a higher contrast ratio than the 550?

I believe the 550 has a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and the 650 may have a 30,000:1 contrast ratio. Not that these numbers mean anything really significant.

You got a source for that? this page says the 550 has 30,000:

My assumption is based off of the discussions that have taken place in the 550 forum. It has been mentioned a few times in the forum that the contrast ratio is 20k and that the manual is wrong and that this has been confirmed by Samsung reps. Here is a link that shows one part of that discussion http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...k#post13658651

A few sites, like Sears, also list the contrast ratio at 20k. However, for all I know you may be right. It seems unclear if the ratio is 20k or 30k.

Thanks. I didn't mean to sound like I was claiming anything to be "right" about, I'm just trying to get to the truth.

No problem. Keep us updated if you can find some kind of definitive answer. I and many others would like to figure out the differences between the 650 and 550 as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 650 offers more than just the TOC and an additional HDMI.

The sad truth of the matter is that there is no solid source of reliable accurate information on these new Samsung plasmas.

Can't find anything about 24p. Whatever film mode does, it only does it in 1080i.
