Probably still in development because there's nothing I could find on the HDMI.org site except for 1.4b. My guess is that we are still a couple of years away from seeing mfrs adopt the new hardware spec if, and when, it gets adopted.

It would likely be HDMI 2.0 and not HDMI 1.5. Spec was supposed to be available in mid-2012 but still is not available.

Only other thing I can add is that DisplayPort is now has a faster max speed (17gbps) and can handle UHD (4K) at 60Hz. That reportedly has some HDMI folks concerned.

I should also point out that last night I saw (at a restaurant) a DirecTV HD receiver hooked up to a HDTV with all the right HD cables. They were using it to show ESPN standard definition even though the HD version was available. Many people can't tell the difference between SD and HD, let alone trying to justify a UHD picture (which has no content) versus HD. So, I'm not sure that the HDMI spec writers need to rush their decision too much.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

What I've heard so far (non-official), is that new changes are due to happen late this year though, so let's wait'n see...

Which means early 2014 for the spec, mid-2014 for sample chipsets and then early 2015 (maybe) for production. Who knows how long after that before the chipsets get incorporated into products. So, not much to worry about right now.

Those dates could even be longer if this is a major revision.
