Since i already own a bunch of long HDMI's , i was wondering about if there was a component to HDMI adaptor. I ordered one off ebay once , ( to hook my laptop to my older tv) and it wouldn't work . Maybe i ordered the wrong thing? Monoprice? I would like to come out of my Satellite box component out and adapt it to HDMI . Such a working product?

Of course if won't work for what you want to do. The listing says as much. Did you bother to read it?

You need a component video to HDMI converter. It is a box with electronics in it, not a cable. You can get one at monorpice, amazon, or any number of other places.

As I explained in the PM, component video is an analog signal while HDMI is a digital signal. No cable in the world (or elsewhere) can convert an analog video signal to a digital signal. You need a powered adapter. Also be careful of the audio output since different adapters result in different type of audio output.
