recently I purchased 2 of the 6ft Ultra Slim Series High Performance HDMI® Cable w/ RedMere® Technology - Black. I got the cable today and I cant believe how small it is compared to other hdmi cables I have used. did I get the right cable ? should I have gotten something els? I will be using this cable to connect my cable box to my TV and the other cable to connect my blu-ray player to my tv.

That's one of the nice features of the Redmere cables. Because they are active cables (pulls a small amount of power from the sink) they can use smaller gauge wires and still deliver full high speed HDMI specs at longer distances. Not to mention that they produce less strain on the connectors because they are lighter and smaller. They are uni-directional though so make sure you install them going in the right direction. The sink end is labeled TV and the other end is labeled Source. You won't damage anything if you reverse the direction, you just won't get a signal.

Another amazing cable is the Parts Express super slim HDMI cables. They cost less than the Monoprice Redmere ones, are non-directional, and work extremely well for short haul runs of 6' or less. They are available at 1', 3', and 6' for $4.25, $5,00, and $6.25 respectively.

Yes. I am fortunate to live 6 miles from the store. I just grabbed a couple 3' on my way home. smile.gif
