HDMI Ports not working/failing. LG Television

Hello Everyone. Newbie out here. I have a LG55LH40 flat screen.TV is about 5 yrs old. Comcast is my cable provider. Have had the same DVR/HD cable box for about 5 years as well. Box failed about 6 weeks ago. Got new box from Comcast (better/more storage/blah blah) Went from RCA's in old box/tv to HDMI in new box/tv . About 3 weeks ago, there was NO SIGNAL on screen. Called Comcast and they said box was bad. Replaced box with new identical box. Same issue. Decided to move HDMI cable from HDMI1 to HDMI2. cable and TV worked fine....Last night while watching TV, screen went blank and NO SIGNAL showed up on screen. Moved HDMI Cable from HDMI2 to HDMI3. Cable works fine now. Question is: Why is this happening? Is there a problem with my TV being 5 yrs old and newer cable box is causing damage to HDMI on television? Is there a solution to this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Chris

'Why is this happening? ' - lots of things could be going wrong!

HDMI cable - start with the obvious one and try a New cable.

Source - are other Sources working on any of the 'dead' HDMI Inputs on the TV.

TV - have you googled to see if others are having HDMI Input failures on that TV, it may simply be the HDMI Input Board is failing!
