Just overhauled my family room HT. Bought a Samsung F8500 Plasma and Denon AVR-x4100w.
All components are at current firmware levels.
I have a Time Warner DVR 8460HDC (Cisco), Samsung Blu-Ray Player, AppleTV, and Sony PS4 connected to the Denon AVR inputs per instructions using HDMI. HDMI-CEC enabled on all devices that have the option (DVR does not list this option).
The Denon is connected to F8500 using the respective HDMI ARC ports.
When I turned on the system, the Denon kept "cycling" between the HDMI and TV Audio -- had to disable some of the settings to get the system back to being stable!
Basically, I have it so when I turn on the TV, the Denon will power up. But when I try to use the SmartApps on the Samsung (like Pandora) I have no audio from the App
Watched some YouTube videos and pretty sure all the settings are correct. I even emailed Denos support and they sent me back what I think is a bogus answer...
"The issue you are having is due to an HDMIconflict and using ARC. The receiver is thinking you want to use the ARCfeature and is switching over to the TV Audio. This is because of theregulations that HDMI.org has put out for devices using HDMI. The only way tostop this from happening is to disable the HDMI control feature in thereceiver, but in doing that you also disable ARC for the receiver and you wouldhave to go into the setup menu each time you wanted to use ARC"
It appears that maybe moving the connections from the Denon to the TV could work. This seems to be counterproductive. Really do not want to pull the system apart again.
I have seen some posts here that this whole HDMI CEC / ARC is a mess. Hopefully, someone has figured out a way to get this to work.
Thanks -- Perry
