I have a older Mitsubishi HDTV with firewire inputs. To my suprise, the Canon HV10 camcorder works with the IEEE1394 input on my TV! (FYI: My other DV camcorders never worked firewire on my TV). I want other options for connecting my camera - I know: I have composit, component, VGA & firewire. BUT - My question is:

Is there a IEEE1394 (firewire) to HDMI conversion?

Don't you need HDMI to Firewire since your TV is Firewire and most sources are HDMI. HDMI uses lossless data with HDCP and Firewire is lossy (MPEG) with no HDCP so I would say this is not likely.

You can use a HTPC (laptop for portable) to convert Firewire to HDMI but don't know of a STB that would do the conversion.

Most all Mini-DV camcorders have firewire out & so do newer computers have firewire inputs. My HDTV is 5 years old - no HDMI. But, I am lucky to say that my new HDV camcorder works & looks great via firewire on my TV! However - HDMI is more popular on newer A/V products. If I could convert IEEE1394 to HDMI, it would be cheaper than buying some new A/V prouducts. (I don't think it will be possible). Thanks for the reply.
