I subscribe to Cable TV only during the NCAA/NFL Football Season. In the past I have been able to record HDTV games (for personal use) but only on certain Motorola boxes and only on Windows XP. I already have a 50' long HDMI cable going from my den to the living room. I would love to be able to find a STB that allows me to record games via FireWire, as well as export back to the HDTV via HDMI. I would love to eventually upgrade one of my machines to Windows 7, but the lack of drivers to capture FireWire is the only reason I refuse to upgrade.

I have Comcast Cable, do they offer a STB that has FireWire, HDMI that works with 3rd party drivers for Windows7?

I searched around a bit and only found old articles. I really dont want to rent two HD boxes.

If you stay with Windows 7 32-bit you should be able to use the Windows 7 drivers. It's the 64-bit version that seems to have problems.

I can vouch for 1394 working for control but I haven't yet hooked up the DVHS deck to the new Win 7 installation (32-bit) to see if that works.

Oh ok, thanks!

Are the drivers still limited to a older / dying choice of Motorola boxes? Or will these work on newer Pace ones?
