Hi, I bought an RCA DVR10, an IEEE-1394 DVR device to attach to my digitally-tuned Samsung HLR5667W TV. It sounded like a great idea on paper but it doesn't work. Support from RCA and Samsung is so poor that it would be humorous--if I wasn't at the center of the joke. The Samsung TV is supposed to recognize and control any firewire/1394 devices that are attached to it but it reports the RCA as "uncontrollable," and does nothing. Any one got any ideas for whipping this thing into line?
Thanks,
Karl

From the looks of it, HLR5667W doesn't support AVHDD.
You don't need to call RCA - call Samsung and ask them specifically which 1394 devices they support - chances are the answer will be D-VHS only. Ask them if they have new firmware with AVHDD support or whatnot.
