I am looking for an LCD monitor with Firewire input that I can take with me to events and plug my camcorder directly in to using the firewire connection. The smallest I have found, are 32". I prefer a 23", but might go with a 27" if I can find one that I like.

Another question I have, is does anyone have experience with firewire from a mini DV camcorder connected to an LCD panel? How is the quality? I know that the smaller the panel is, the less I will be able to see the difference between the digital connection, and the S-video, but in my opinion, LCD panels look like crap with analogue signals.

One of the other uses I plan for this is a computer monitor, so if I could find one that is also 1080P, that would be great!!!

I would like to bring this thread back from the dead to see if anyone has found an answer for me.

Nope, never have seen a less than 32" and I always get firewire if its available.

I wonder if there is a stand alone converter that might work with a TV?

I have looked in to a converter, and I think I found one that converted to s-video, but that's a waste, since the camcorder has that, and I am sure does a better job.

You say you always get firewire if it's available. Have you hooked up a mini DV camcorder to an LCD with it? Does it look good?

Nope, just D-VHS VCR's.

Even if you get a TV with fire wire, they don't always work with camcorders. So make sure you read the manual first, or even better take the camcorder to the store and try it out.

That is one of my concerns, that's why I would like to hear from someone that has what I am looking for. I messed with the mits tv's some when they started to use firewire, and it worked good on them.

I may have to take a road trip. We have only Best Buy here, and the selection is limited.

If you have a laptop, I wonder if you could run your camcorder through it and use an external display like a Dell 24" wide screen?
