are any HDDVD/BD combo players really stable enough to buy? Or are there any future combo players coming out that will be reduced price with few bugs?

I would suggest the BH200 if it weren't for a small amount of problems with certain discs that make them pretty much unwatchable. These issues will be probably be resolved in the next couple weeks. I would hold off unless you find a killer deal on one, as LG seems to have proven their commitment to fixing these problems.

Are there any stable HD Players except for the PS3? All of them seem to have some kind of minor problem.

The LG BH200 now seems pretty stable and as 5harkology said LG are still committed to it. I'm no longer convinced Samsung are still committed to their Combo at all. The LG BH200 with March firmware is very close it seems to being perfect. Fingers crossed LG deliver the March firmware re-released officially next month.

a few months ago it was reported that LG will continue in the hd dvd/blu-ray combo business, so hopefully they will be releasing a new player in the near future?

Chances are more likely they'll just continue to support the one they have now.

Well, except that they still seem to be developing the BH300 too. Nothing's for certain of course, but I think there's a pretty decent chance they'll bring it out. (How different it is from the BH200 remains to be seen.)

I'm happy with the LG BH200 - not perfect, but who is? Great player. There's talk that Samsung may update the UP5000, also, but no solid evidence yet.

Really? I hadn't thought they would do another one now - do you have a link to that info?

Search this forum for "BH300".

all I saw was a quote from another member saying that they were told from someone at HES that the BH300 will be out in the next few months. I havent seen anything official to go by. For now the "only" combos I would even look at are the BH200 and the BDup5K. Choose which one suits your needs as both offer unique features.

The LG engineer who provided early info and heads up on the March firmware for the BH200 also provided test results for a "3rd gen" unit.

You'll have to search this forum for BH300 as nothing has been posted elsewhere I've seen.

Samsung Master (who works for LG) has said they have a LG BH300 (he even corrected himself when he originally said they were working on one) and said it will be BD Profile 2.0, but that's all he knew about it.

My money is on May firmware for the BH200 to bring it up to what was originally promised, then a BH300 and then that's probably it. Samsung will hopefully fix their BD-UP5000 but obviously won't release anything else.

As far as I can tell the BD-UP5000 only offers Analogue Outputs on top of the BH200 but there is no guarantee it will ever get the promised Profile 1.1 and Lossless Audio support we know for sure the BH200 can do and will officially do soon

AND there's no guarantee LG will ever re-release the hallowed firmware. They haven't expressly stated as such in public.

Are you saying there is no guarantee LG will re-release the March firmware which gives the BH200 Lossless Audio support?

Where have you read they expressed they won't re-release it? Thanks.

I haven't, I'm just saying that neither company is public about specific capabilities of their respective players, especially in relation to future features. There's no reason to believe Samsung stopped working on the firmware either, as the thing is still in the public marketplace.

Oh right fair enough, good point regarding the BH300. Agreed there is a possibility the BD-UP5000 firmware will still come.

Not that it effects you guys but Samsung still haven't bothered to release the BD-UP5000 outside of North America. LG have released both their Combos to at least some parts of Europe.

^Good point (on the lack of an EU release)...I can understand why that might create hesitation in buying into one.

Interesting that LG is working on another dual format player.

I would have thought they'd dropped it after the Warner defection.

Samsung 64F8500, Panasonic 65VT50, Oppo 95, Tivo Roamio for OTA, Dish VIP722, Marantz AV8801 preamp, Rotel Amps, Atlantic Tech 8200 speakers, Seaton Submersive HP, Calman 5, Chromapure, Accupel DVG-5000, i1Display3pro, i1pro2, eecolor colorbox.

My samsung bd-up5000 works great. I haven't had any problems and I don't see what all the fuss is about.

You do only tend to hear from people who've had problems. I've never come across anything that you won't find someone online complaining about.

Any updates on or if they will be updating this unit would like one of these for the bedroom just afraid they will do to this what Samsung usually does with pretty much everything they Manufacture.Really was hoping not to have two different units in bedroom but would like to be able to use in the living room if needed.
Right now have the Panasonic BD10(Wish they would work on the LFE problem they have forgot about this unit now),Toshiba XA2,A35,A2 and have never had trouble playing anything in any of these players would like to keep it that way.
