I found the LG BH200 at this UK store (but out of stock):

http://www.askdirect.co.uk/uview?cal...earch&id=11303

I e-mailed them and this was their responce:

Subject: RE: LG BH200 Super Blu Player

We have just got the news today that LG will no longer be releasing the BH200 and there will also be no replacement product available until the end of the year.

It's available in Mainland Europe so clearly they mean The UK. I also pointed out it is out in The UK but is virtually impossible to find in stock.

Hi Alll,

We have been informed by LG that the BH200 is sold out and the BH300 will be shipping in a week or so. No specs yet as I hope to have them soon.

Did they definitely say "BH300"? I would guess they're wrong and it's something else.

I'd be surprised if that's so with nothing mentioned officially on any site period. I've not seen any site selling/pre-ordering it or any technical articles at all. Especially given the Korean the article above clearly stating LG are pulling out of Combo Players.

I hope so I've only just literally bought the BH200 .

When i bought mine at futureshop all he had were 2 open boxes left... and he said that he looked and most were gone all over canada with a few new ones a couple provinces over. He also said that they werent getting anymore in which means the items discontinued. Im putting this, the korea times article together and saying that they are leaving the combo business to focus on blu-ray alone. I just hope my next paycheque comes quickly enough so i can buy the last bh200 here for my room. That way ill have both blu-ray and hd-dvd in living room and bedroom in one amazing player.

For what's it's worth I sent an email request to the LG customer service desk concerning the LG-bh300 and received the following reply.

My original question:

-----------Original Customer Inquiry------------
Received Date : 5/27/2008 11:30:52
The type of inquiry : New Products
Product/Model No. : DVD&VIDEO&SET TOP/

In light of LG's recent corporate decision regarding dual format HD DVD/Blu Ray players, are there still any plans on releasing the LG-BH300 Super Blu high def player or will the BH200 be the last dual format stand-alone player. Thank You

Their reply:

-----------Reply to Customer Inquiry------------
Dear Dave, We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. We appreciate your interest in our company and products. At this time, we have no information regarding a model BH300. According to our information, at this time, we are currently awaiting the release of a stand-alone Blu-Ray player, with plans to discontinue HD-DVD compatibility. If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience. Neil E Electronic Correspondence Executive (ECE) LG Electronics USA 800-243-0000

I hope you are correct in that they will still be releasing the BH300, but my reply from LG doesn't sound to encouraging. It could be that it was just the csr following the party line and not announcing anything until it's official

That sounds pretty final, if only from a 1st line support person.

I'd be very surprised if the BH300 comes but you never know.

Sounds like it's better to pick up a BH200 now than wait for this never-arriving BH300...

I don't think the BH300 is real, either. But where to buy--are TigerDirect and CC the only two mailorder cos with stock? Seems like there ought to be many more out there than I can find!

Chances of a BH300 are 1 in a 100 I would say.

HD DVD is dead, does it mean the tech is free to incorporate in a player? Then all it would cost is the extra hardware price, and if LG manages to keep the player's price competitive, it is a winning combo - j6p will be buying these over the competition because they would think it supports more standards and hence is "better".
However I do not think that including HD DVD is that easy and cheap - design/development costs and support costs are a lot.
There are probably millions of HD DVD disks out there, how are we supposed to play them? Someone please keep at least a mediocre support of HD DVD hardware.

The problem is it's not free AFAIK - and most likely never will be, I'm afraid, as part of the secret deal between Sony and Toshiba (see Toshiba purchasing Sony's PS3 CPU (Cell) factory for nickels and dimes when subsequently suddenly declaring it will stop HD DVD mfr'ing. )

Right after I posted this yesterday I see in Best Buy's ad that they're selling this player, though at a "sale" price of $599!!!???

So there are 3 retailers alive at least--I wish someone could tell us how many BH200s might be in the distribution channel, i.e. are they destined to be rare as hen's teeth, or are there enough out there that we might see some "closeout" pricing some time soon?

BestBuy actually is selling the BH200 for $499. I know the ad says $599, it's odd. I bought one on Sunday and it rang up at the cheaper price. I'm going to bring in my receipt and apply the 12% coupon I just got also, nice!

Their ad also didn't mention it played HDDVD's at all, just tout it as "1080p Blu-Ray player with HD upconvert". They're really trying to wipe out any mention of HDDVD.

Anyone hoping or waiting for a BH300 is best advised to go find a BH200 now. There won't be a BH300 combo player.

(That from an LG dealer.)

Thanks. I suspected as such, hopefully it will mean more likely the BH200 is now made Profile 2.0.

I'll be happy if they bring one out, hopefully it would mean more people buy combos and ultimately it should be a better player. It's par for the course upgrading kit.

I've owned 4 DVD Players over the years, 6 if I'm including my DVD Recorder and LG BH200. Such is life.

i dont think they will bother making anymore combo players since HD lost. right now i have 3 players. my LG200 sony standard 5 disc player and panasaonic DVR with hard drive. i want to get a new DVR that records in HD.
i want to get rid of the sony player but i need it to record movies on to the panasonic DVR. and of course i have my xbox 360 but thats the last player i use for watching movies

I'd buy the BH200 immediately if I had a 12% off coupon. Are those on-line anywhere?

I find it so annoying no HD-DVD, BD or Combo Player has a Wi-fi port. It's really annoying I have to run a 5m Ethernet cable around my living room. It seems so old fashioned to have to run yet another cable. I already transmit a Wireless signal for my Laptop and Printer.

It would be so easy to add one but none of them bother. Sure I could buy a HomePlug system to do this but that's a lot of expensive. In the long term I may have to do this. I don't plan to have my Router near my HD Player forever.
