As long as you provided the info they asked for, (serial # & copy of receipt) as well as your name, address and phone #, they will contact you to confirm they are sending the check.

I emailed them all the info and copy of the receipt and a week and a half later I called them and was told "the check was already in the mail" as they had called me a couple days earlier... though our caller ID did not show this. Doesn't matter though as we got the check yesterday. Total time elapsed from sending email to cashing the check = 2 weeks exactly. I'm happy.

Anyone else like me and really never cared for the BD live concept anyway? After reading about units "phoning home" to let the mothership know when you are playing one of their discs is a little unnerving to me. What could come next? Letting them know every disc you play (porno, copies, etc.)? One of the reasons I got rid of my first PS3 was just that reason. According to the EULA, they can know a boatload of what you do...

Even though I've been hoping LG adds BD-Live, I found using the web-enabled features on HD DVDs kludgy at best. Too slow, whether it be logging in or downloading content. My thoughts are there may be some cool stuff coming down the pipe that uses the 2.0 technology that I'll miss out on if LG drops the ball. But as for right now, I don't see wasting my time to download trailers for upcoming attractions.

But the "live chat" with a director could be cool to sit in on...

I've been very successful in merely calling LG's toll free number and requesting the rebate. I have two players and called them in--two weeks apart. No paperwork required. I received one check yesterday.

I have some new-found respect for LG, a company and whose products I always thought of as being "crappy." The BH200 is a fine machine and the LG support has been very good.

In the grand scheme of things, this rebate probably isn't costing LG very much money at all. Outside of this forum is there any place where the information about this rebate is being posted? Outside of the people on this forum (and maybe a few other non-happy customers) is anyone else getting rebate checks? I don't believe LG is sending rebates out to all the people who bought the player and then registered it at its site.

The info quoted below comes from a much earlier posting in this very thread... remember 'the search box is our friend'...

"In order to receive your $75 check, please submit your name, address, daytime phone number, serial number and a copy of your sales receipt to:
customerservice@lge.com ATTN: BH200 Rebate or fax to 256-775-8668"

My thoughts exactly... the only people likely to be incite or join-in any class action law suit would have to be gathered together at some common site... like AVS and so they drop $1500-$3000 to compensate these few to stave off the tens or hundred thousands of dollars in attorney fees and court costs and awarded damages. And probably most of us paid in excess of $400 for these units anyway (some units that are now going for $250 or less at the end of its product cycle means profits were huge during most of its run)... with a profit margin so high this is truly a rebate and isn't really costing LG anything as it amounts to giving back a very, very small portion of their huge profits made off of this player.

I paid $360 incl tax and with this $75 cash back this player cost me $285 in the end. I'm satisfied this was a good enough deal for me. If it lasts say 5 years and continues to play everything I throw at it... I will consider it a super bargain.

Agreed. Please start a "rebate" thread and keep this one focused on firmware.

seems like it would be more in the planning stages right now because it sounds as if this BIG update was not really planned until a couple weeks ago.

CEO saying 'get it done' is where I am drawing from.

I am thinking we have a couple of months of waiting for the BIG one (I hope less).

I am not saying a title patch wont come out before then.

You are correct it will take some time. CEO also wants a BIG update for the BH100, but I am not sure if that's possible. Time will tell.

The James Bond fix was just released for the BD300, not sure if it's posted on the LG website but you can download from the BD300, version BD.8.11.425.

As for the James Bond fix for the BH200, it will be a little bit longer, due to "something going wrong".

Samsungmaster - Will taking the $75 dollar check from LG ruin our chances of geting the 2.0 bd live issue rolled out to our players? I have been offered one for each player but I really want to see our great player 2.0 compliant and as the king of the hill of duel format players.

HD-DVD: 115 Blu: 6
Latest HD-DVD: All of them at Frys for under $10.

Latest BD: No incentive to pick up discs now that the format war is over. Netflix via xbox and mail is more that sufficient.

Hi SM, What are the "Chances" of these items being in the "big update"
  • 4:3 stretch fix (a selectable config item would be nice)
  • Auto mode using EDID data and "Force" modes ignoring EDID data
  • HDMI stability fixed with DVI-D & HDMI v1.1-v1.2 devices
  • and "info" showing time remaining

?

PS, this is an awesome player (i have 2) and I really dont want to go back to 2 separate players for BD/HD-DVD in my Lounge Room - on my HDMI v1.3 TV in the games room both BH200's are 100% rock solid.

Isn't your current BH200 a "backup" player that's only seen 1 hours use (from another thread)? Why would you buy a backup for your backup?

Yes, it is...but if it were to be upgraded to BD-Live, I might bring it out of backup status.

Hey guys, I really wouldn't get your hopes up too high for a BD Live update. The official word from LG is that we're not going to see it, and samsungmaster has only mentioned a "BIG" update, not anything specific. Even if he was directly told that BD Live would be added, priorities can easily change between now and the few months it'll take for us to see the update.

To be honest, I'd be pretty darned happy if we just see an update to address playability/stability and dropout issues. At least we'd have concrete evidence to prove that LG's going to continue to support the player. Even better would be an incremental update to address even a few of the current issues before the "BIG" update is released...that'd be a big step toward restoring good faith between LG and its owners.

I really do appreciate all that samsungmaster has done to help us. Really. It's just that actions speak louder than words, and we haven't seen any action since June, and even samsungmaster feels it'll be a couple of months before we see an update. Words are going to get awfully stale between now and then, and, quite frankly, samsungmaster going to get tired of hearing us clamor for the update.

Oh yeah, I get dropouts between my BH200, a Denon AVR-3808CI, and a Panasonic TH-58PZ700U. I haven't yet had a problem with the BH200 connected directly to a Panasonic TH-50PX60U or directly to a Samsung PN58A550 (someone mentioned it'd be good to describe the equipment with which the dropouts are occurring).
