I own the NIN HD DVD and I absolutely love it. I now own a BD-UP5000 and it won't play it with the latest firmware. I know everyone here is aware of that. I am thinking I should just sell the HD DVD on Ebay and pick up the BR.

Do you think Samsung will release another firmware anytime soon that will fix the HD DVD?

At the speed they move and the likely minimal development resources they have employed on the HD DVD side, getting the BD might provide you with quicker gratification.

That's what I was thinking.

I still don't understand why the newest firmware won't play it but the old firmware did. Leave it up to Samsung to fix something that wasn't broken.

I have been wondering if I should do the same thing. Do we know if the blu-ray version works?

Thanks Richard

They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

I ordered the BR from Amazon. I should have it on Monday. I will post after I test it out.

The BR works!

I haven't watched the entire concert yet but it has worked for the first few songs I've listened to.

I just kept my HD-A1 for the few HDDVDs that the Samsung won't play nice with. Mostly import titles or titles from anyone other than the big studios.
