I spoke to a very nice gentlemen from LG at the CEDIA show and he was telling me that if there was enough interest in a BD-Live update for the BH200, then they could do it.

Please contact LG and tell them you want BD-Live for this player.

Just enjoy HD in whatever form you can (Sat, Cable, D-VHS, OTA, HD DVD, or BD).

I just droped them a line. Here is the link.

http://www.lge.com/support/contact_us.jsp

HD-DVD: 115 Blu: 6
Latest HD-DVD: All of them at Frys for under $10.

Latest BD: No incentive to pick up discs now that the format war is over. Netflix via xbox and mail is more that sufficient.

Just sent the following via the above link:

As an owner of a BH200 SuperBlu HD DVD/Blu-ray player, I just wanted to take a moment to express my hope for a forthcoming firmware update that adds BD-Live support. If that update also addresses the 4:3 aspect issue, corrects the Dolby Digital + issue and adds Netflix Streaming (a la the BD300) then so much the better. In any case, there is a thriving community of owners of this fine product and we want to make sure you know we are here and still hoping for updates. Thank you much!

I will be sending my e-mail in!

As for Netflix support...I don't think its even possible.

IMO - there are much more pressing fixes than adding BDLive.

If adding BDLive raises awareness & support from LG for a thriving BH200 owners' community - then I am all for it.
Enormus is on the right track with throwing everything in with a kitchen sink request.

However, either not many have seen this thread or I am afraid not many care for BDLive.

Yeah I hope the other owners are busy and will make their voice heard. LG told me that they read the threads here at AVS and are aware of what is said. I wanted to get some discussion about 2.0 going so they can see we would love to have it along with the DD+ and 4:3 aspect fix.

I would personally love it if Shooter HD DVD would play in my BH200 so I can retire my A35.

Just enjoy HD in whatever form you can (Sat, Cable, D-VHS, OTA, HD DVD, or BD).

This is a good idea...I've made a similar thread for the competitor's player (where it is admittedly more unlikely to happen but worth a shot for us owners all the same).

I came across this little gem of a player a couple of weeks ago (open box, no remote, no manual, just the bare player, though in good condition) at a local Futureshop here in Canada - loving it so far as I picked up many HD-DVDs in the firesale, and I'm now slowly switching my attention to the blue variety.

Anyway, I digress! I've sent in my request/plea to LG to produce a BD-Live update for this excellent player.

Fingers crossed!

Personally I think it's currently largely a waste of time, but going forward it will hopefully prove worthwhile, so I'm all for the BH200 being updated.

LG has been good about supporting the unit, so I'm hopeful we'll get this. When do they release the BD300? Is it October?

Oddly my copy of Shooter works great, but I can't say the same for my copy of Clerks II - hopefully they fix both these HD DVD issues, since they seem to be the last of the non-playable domestic HD DVD releases. Then they'll just have to focus on Blu-Ray disc issues (cough, Madagascar, cough).

Not to hijack, but I never noticed this problem before! Shooter plays fine in two of my three BH200's, but it locks the third one up at the title menu. Hmmm...

Could you please tell me if there are any plans to make this player BD-Live (Profile 2.0) capable by way of a software update?!! * *Or if this player will indeed still be supported with software updates, etc.

Thank you
**Dan Sholtis

Guess we will have to see but that looks promising, IMO.

Doesn't look that promising to me since the BH200 is not a *new* player.

Firmware updates are firmware updates, as far as I'm concerned. Anything that keeps the player alive and current.

Toshiba just updated their full line of HD DVD players with new firmware . . . so miracles DO happen.

They need also to add-back AVCHD/BD5/BD9 capability!

UPDATE: I used the Web Form on the LG Service "Contact Customer Service" page and actually got a response in little more than an hour!!!!!?!!?!! I must admit this is remarkable IMO. Anyway the response actually reflects a real person on the other end--something else that is remarkable!!!

"We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. I wasnt sure about this format and I have to escalate your question and unfortunately the unit wasnt design for this format, but if this option was on the previous update then you can roll back to the previous update. You wont have any problem doing so, if you just update to keep the software updated without having an issue. This question in particular will be send to the factory engineers. If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience. Virginia Electronic Correspondence Executive"

OK not a Great response, but I can't help but be impressed nonetheless. She gave me a workaround and promised to send it along to the Far East.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, er, I mean, there are human beings in LG Customer Service!

I keep seeing this link posted, but when I go to the page, there is nothing there that is obvious in terms of where to send a specific request regarding the BH 200. I tried the link that said "software/hardware updates", but it was an inactive link. Exactly what part of this page must be clicked on to send requests for the BH 200? Thanks...

Try using IE, Firefox doesn't seem to like those links.

It's not an obvious site to navigate.
If you go to the contact_us page there's a area for "Consumer Products" There should be a "contact us" link there. Clicking that should bring up a popup window that allows you to select your continent and region. That will take you to the contact us form page.

Don't worry about the Password field on the resulting page. Just put the required info, name, email, type of inquiry (customer service), product group (DVD&VIDEO&SET TOP), product (DVD&VIDEO&SET TOP), model number (BH200), and content (request for BD-Live, profile 2.0, etc). WHen all done submit that form.
