So I came across the BD-UP5000 and picked up this as an open box from Best Buy. Uploaded firmware v1.3 and soon was having the dreaded 0x000000ff error, mainly with Lionsgate films that progressed to all BluRay I threw at it. I sent it off to Samsung and just received it back. BluRay plays fine, but Lionsgate disk still seemed to be an issue as it still fails to load. FYI the Lionsgate BluRay I used were Saw II and Saw IV. Is this a known issue? Firmware or hardware problem?

It's possible that you could just have a defective disc.

Format Neutral: Samsung BD-UP5000
HD DVDs: 41
Blu-rays: 24

I don't think I have defective disk as it plays fine on the BH200. The disks are new as well, not some crappy rentals.
