I just bought an LG BH200 and saw that they release firmware updates to support 7.1 audio formats. Did this include DTS-HD MA?

Thanks!
Tae

No (though it should bitstream).

Gotcha. Thanks! I have a 7.1 HDMI multichannel receiver that accepts the 7.1 decodes but it sounds like that won't cut it in this scenario for DTS-HD MA 7.1.

The player won't decode DTS-MA at all for that matter.

If your Receiver is able to decode DTS-HD HR or MA then you'll be fine.

Yeah, unfortunately I have an older Denon 4306. Great receiver but no HD audio decoding. I have also previously purchased the Sammy 5000 so that one will just stay in the main HT room and the BH200 will go in the bedroom.

Mine does pioneer elite 94txh, but even tho it will bitsream. The player can't sent it out 7.1 it reverts to 5.1. This stinks, and LG will not fix there problems. No more LG for me unless I see that they fix these issues, and lets not forget DD+ on hd dvd's the ever so popular helicopter sound. In order to play the feature one must set the player to pcm, and I've noticed you do loose some volume.

I doubt that's a LG player problem (assume you updated firmware to have bitstream support). There are quite a few DTS-MA 7.1 discs out there that will only show as 5.1 in Pioneer receivers (all of them, including the SCs) but the receiver behaves exactly like it actually got the 7.1 track. Speculations are these discs uses special speaker layout schema that the Pioneer chose display 5.1 instead of 7.1. For these tracks, you won't be able to apply any matrix processing on the receiver to bring 5.1 to 7.1 (for DTS-MA, you can only apply THX processing anyway) like you can do with normal 5.1 tracks.
