Looks great, I must of forgotten that it came with 7.1 analog outs. This one will definitely sell much better than the LG player.

Now this is interesting! I was actually going to get the Toshiba XA2 and the Samsung BD-P1200, but now that this thing has the Reon chip, I'd have to think that this is the way to go.

So where do I stand in line!

Good to see the DTS-HD logo on it. Native decoding is always the best.

Does that player support either DVD-Audio or SACD multichannel? I'd probably spring for it if it was truly a universal player.

Neither is supported. Nor is BD-R or BD-RE . . . only BD-ROM (movies)

Probably not enough hi-rez audio enthusiasts out there for adding DVD-A/SACD to make economic sense. But hopefully if Denon does come out with a universal HD player, they - with their experience - could include hi-rez capability.

This is IMO the future of the format war. Once the 2nd gen LG comes out, watch them compete on price...

I'd like to know boot up time by comparison to the Toshiba HD DVD players or any of the Blu-ray standalones. I'm not expecting 360 add-on or PS3-level quickness, but if its significantly quicker than any of the units already out, that would be a big plus.

Sign me up for one of these. My BD-P1200, while quirky, is a decent performer.

I have just returned my HD94 Pioneer player. This is a good player however I now feel that both formats are going to be around for at least the next 2-3 years. With the limited number of either releases you need to have a player that can do both just to have enough discs to watch. The new Samsung is just the product I need!

Does this player support TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus over analog?

If so, I could keep my current non-HDMI receiver longer and get lossless audio along with the Reon for SD DVD.

This player is nice! I think eventually CE's will go the route of Samsung and produce combo players.

Very true.

I doubt I'd buy one for $1000... but at $500, it's a no-brainer.

$300 premium over two separate players is a lot just to save on one remote control (or the effort in programming your universal one) and one rack space IMO.

I'm pretty sure it'll do True HD and DTS-HD but I'm less sure about MA.
It looks like in December we'll be able to choose from several MA capable players, so it would be stupid of Sammy to miss the boat...

Must ship no later than 10/31/07 because it is a Profile 1.0 player - not a 1.1 player.
