Note issues with the Nov update that I have seen:

Spidey 3 video menu backgrounds stutters (audio OK)more than the July 07 firmware and eventually stops/freezes instead of loops. Fortunately cursor still works and you can get to movie. Audio skips (which were very infrequent in July 07 firmware) are fixed.

Cars: Same issue with the video of animated menu backgrounds stuttering and freezing as Spidey 3. The extras section with the design commentary intertwined with the film (in Auto mode), loops endlessly at the Truck stop storyboard. I was able to chapter advance past the point, but several items were skipped in doing so. The 'Find Cars' game turned the player off. Cursor positioning in all menus are very touchy and overreacts and often jumps two or more places for one button press.

Twilight Zone the Movie in Blu Ray crapped out, sound-wise, for us on the BH100. Audio dropouts became so persistent it was unwatchable.

The family hates this player now! I'm not pleased that the firmware update disc has never arrived, and the LG link for the November firmware has not worked the last 3 days I've tried.

The demand for hi-def discs must be going up with Netflix now--the wait is getting longer (another reason the family is not impressed!)

The Twilight Zone plays fine on mine too and I believe I still have the May update latest.

Still waiting on a firmware disc too. I called them again yesterday and rep slipped saying they shipped one out awhile ago which I never recieved. She resent a new one yesterday. I would call the 800# and ask for an update on the firmware disc. I only have computer access at work and told her this after her suggesting me to download it online. It should take around 9 days to get, per them.

Bought the player two days ago and it played all my HD-DVD's fine. Bought Hellboy, Click and Paprika blu-ray also played fine. But what came as a shock was the fact it doesn't read CD's? I also encountered a dvd that didn't play, was "My name is earl SE1". Decided to do the upgrade, i had 071403 at first, after that i could play the dvd :-D.

Well, the LG phone person today told me there is no way they can estimate when one will be sent. I requested mine over a month ago! Last night Transformers HD DVD would not play. Lack of high speed internet access makes the download impractical now.

Anyone in particular folks can reach at LG to get something moving

I just bought Pirates 3 and guess what, it won't play in the Bh100. The previews will play, the movies starts to load and then nothing.

Guess we'll be playing the "When will LG release a firmware update?" game all over again.

I heard the problem with Pirates 3 might have more to do with the display used than the players themselves (I have trouble envisioning why this might be a display issue...). Disney is looking for inputs from everyone to try to track down what's causing the difficulties.

BLU RAY - 53+PE (if your quantity is zero, you are missing out on too many movies)
HD DVD - 10 (if your quantity is zero, you are still missing out).

I sent a note to LG and they agreed that there was a possible change in to Copy Protection that causes the problem with Pirates 3. Blu-Ray copy guard is its own worst enemy. When the disc first starts the proviews just press "DISC MENU" on the remote. That takes you to the language setting. You will then get another screen with a play movie selection. If it doesn't start when you press play movie then press "DISC MENU" on the remote again and it will take you to a menu where you can select play movie.

You can watch it but there is a problem it you let it go through the previews and start the movie.

LG says they are looking into it. Get ready for another Firmware update.

Have to comment that since the November firmware upgrade, the difference has been dramatic--playing many discs that were previously unplayable, and no longer having audio dropouts that troubled many other discs. I'm much happier with the unit (and the formats) now.

We were watching the new Harry Potter in Blu-ray and during the segment where the kids had there meeting in the snow village the audio went out of sycn. After I paused the playback and then returned to the movie the audio was back in sycn.

Has anyone eles had this kind of problem.

I have the November update and can't get 'The Condemned' US release and 'Jimi Hendrix:Live at Montreaux' UK version to play on the bh100. It has an upside down yield boundery icon, with an exclamation point come up each time I try to put these discs in and ejects the disc.

Found another update 080109a (Fixes main title Freeze up) for the bh100. This really sucks. We watch HD-DVD all the time and there is NEVER a problem. But it just so happened that you have someone over and the Dam Blu-ray disk (3:10 to Yuma) will not play......... Why and how is Sony getting away with this is just un-believable.

I guess when you pay off the studios (Warner Bros $100 million deal with Sony) the consumer does not count. But this constant updating is a real pain. The player has what looks like a Ethernet connection on the back, so why not have the BH100 update itself.

As anyone else had problems with "27 Dresses"

UPDATE 6/1/2008

Netflix replacment disk corrected the problem

Thanks

"Jumper" can be added to the list of Blu-Ray disks that will not play on the BH100.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest kept giving me an error message. I believe it is a region A disc from US and I should be able to play it on my US machine with EEPROM value set to 00. Error and then it ejects.

EDIT:

After re-installing the my 'feb' firmware again it seemed to reset whatever I did.

Thank you, nashou66 !

I saw that before, but I have windows vista and everytime I tried to download it last week, it wouldn't let me. I might try again when I can get something besides dial-up to try. 310 to Yuma won't currently play, but did with the last firmware, strange. I suppose I'm going to have to re-install possibly older firmware if I still can't download the June.
