If thats an official date now of Jan 15th, then we may see it in stores in a week or two. I mean Amazon doesn't even have the Panasonic BD30 till Dec 1st and its been out for weeks now.

Blue Discs: 28....Next purchase...The Rock
Red Discs: 7....Next purchase...Is there a need to?
PS3 Games: 4....Next purchase...GT5
Just a bluish shade of purple....Neutrality is calming!

1call has it for <$775 w/3-day Fedex incld.

If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.

Considering that this player isn't just a crappy BD player and a crappy HD DVD player like many of the dual format players that have come out so far this is a fairly reasonable deal. Still expensive, but man (at least on paper) it looks like a nice player.

I was considering this but I went with XA2/PS3 instead. Maybe in the future.

You could still get seperates for less, but not bad I guess for an early combo player. Those with limited inputs and space would get the most benefit, if they can afford it.

XA2 + PS3 = Priceless

3 weeks ago, I was really pumped for this player, then I started reading all the Samsung 1400 threads and got pretty down on this player because it just doesn't seem Samsung has got its act together the way Panasonic does. For me, I'll keep my XA2 and PS3 for now and then maybe go to a Panny 30 if the PS3 doesn't get DTSHDMA. I think I'm over this player for now! We'll see in another 3 weeks

No way can you get seperates with the features that this player will come with. You'll probably spend about a $1000 to get two players with all the features, audio and video wise, that this player will have.

you can't even do that.

i need TrueHD and DTS-HD MA decoded in the player and sent out via 5.1 analog (assuming this sammy either can, or will be able to do both after firmware upgrade).

where can you find that in separates at any price?

Well, if one needs *all* the features that it comes with then probably not, but I'd say most won't need all the features. I guess what I meant to say was that one could find both players that do what they want and spend less. In my case, my receiver can decode the HD audio formats, so I wouldn't need the analog outputs that it offers.

you will probably want to add this to the tracking thread since it was "announced" a few days ago(in the tracking thread) that Amazon had it back up I believe.

Crutchfield has it in their current mailed catalog for $799 with free shipping in the US. It's #3058DP5000 and their number is 1-800-555-9430. It's not currently on their website, though.

Where is Astoria in NY?!
I actually have had decent experience with Crutchfield in the past - bought a lot of stuff from there - if their price is comparable to Amazon.Com, I'll go with them - but I'd like to see it on their website first.

One Question: What is this player missing? Any reason to wait and hold back on this purchase?

Astoria is in Queens in NYC. I don't know enough about the player itself, though. Check the thread on the Samsung vs LG multi-format players in this forum. It has a good set of info in it.
