I am inclined to believe now, that the silence of Samsung on this BD-UP5000 player is a sign that they are caught between a rock and a hard spot. In other words, if it were my company and my responsibility and I had a solution to a problem that customers were kicking at my door about, I would most definitely tell them immediately that a fix is coming for sure.
By not officially and immediately telling us that the promised firmware update fixes for the DTS-HD-MA and other audio decodings is still real and coming, makes me think that the probability that they (and Broadcom) goofed on their hardware design implementation is highly probable. The silence is just too ridiculous and I think they just don't know how to word it to customers that "... we are sorry, we goofed, there will not be any firmware fix for the promised audio updates...".
Really if I were the owner of the company, I'd have already released an official statement to calm and keep my customer's by now. Here silence is not golden! :-(
But being the way I am, I still am hoping they figure out how to fix the crippled player.
