Found this gem in Goodwill for $0.10. If you haven't heard of Command Records, they made some of the best and coolest stereo recordings back in the early days of stereo. They did some test discs and such to show off the new Motorola stereo turntables. This one has almost all Jazz recordings on it and I'm digitizing it currently.

rory Gallagher - photo finish *just love this guy's sound, voice and style. could be "my" fav guitar player even over jimi and stevie ray . saw him twice in the mid '70's, just a great live act and down to earth blue collar musician. (there's rumors that when asked hows it feel to be the best guitarist in the world jimi Hendrix quoted don't know maybe you should ask rory Gallagher). this is just one of those rear instances that the lp is far better sounding than it's cd version.

Rory is awesome. Never got to see him. Regarding that rumor, Jimi is rumored to have said that about everybody. He was a humble dude. Dick Cavett tried to get him to call himself the best, Jimi said "how about we just say the best guitarist in this chair."

Radio City is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios.

A southern US band under the influence of the British Invasion (such as The Beatles and The Kinks).

Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. Critically acclaimed upon its release, the record sold poorly, partly due to a lack of promotion and the distribution problems of the band's struggling record label, Ardent Records. The album included "September Gurls" and "Back of a Car", which remain among the most famous Big Star songs; both the Searchers and the Bangles have covered "September Gurls".

Radio City's reputation has grown since its release, with many critics and listeners of the opinion that it is not only the definitive power pop album but one of the finest rock-music albums.

In 2003, the album was ranked number 403 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Exodus is the ninth studio album by Jamaican reggae recording band Bob Marley and the Wailers, first released 3 June 1977 though Island Records. With the other original members leaving the group, Marley recruited a new backing band.

On 3 December 1976, an assassination attempt was made on Bob Marley's life in which his chest was grazed and his arm was struck, but he survived. His wife Rita was also shot and survived. Following the assassination attempt Marley left Jamaica and was exiled to London where Exodus was recorded.

The album's production has been characterized as laid-back with pulsating bass beats and an emphasis on piano, trumpet and guitar. Unlike previous albums from the Wailers, Exodus thematically moves away from cryptic story-telling; instead it revolves around themes of change, religious politics, and sex. The album is split into two halves: the first half revolves around religious politics while the second half is focused on themes of sex and keeping faith.

In 2003, the album was ranked number 169 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Quote:
Sweetheart of the Rodeo is the sixth album by American rock band The Byrds and was released on August 30, 1968.

Recorded with the addition of country rock pioneer Gram Parsons, it was influential as the first major country rock album by an established act and represented a stylistic move away from the psychedelic rock of the band's previous LP, The Notorious Byrd Brothers. The Byrds had occasionally experimented with country music on their four previous albums, but Sweetheart of the Rodeo represented their fullest immersion into the genre thus far.

David Crosby and Michael Clarke had departed the band in late 1967, leaving Roger McGuinn as leader of The Byrds, along with Chris Hillman, the only other remaining member of the band. Unbeknownst to McGuinn or Hillman, Parsons had his own musical agenda in which he planned to marry his love of traditional country music (which he saw as being the purest form of American music) with youth culture's passion for rock. Tension developed between Parsons and the rest of the band and by the time the album was released in August, Parsons had left the band.

Rolling Stone also praised the album in its September 1968 issue, with Jon Landau writing "The Byrds, in doing country as country, show just how powerful and relevant unadorned country music is to the music of today." Landau added "they leave just enough rock in the drums to let you know that they can still play rock & roll."

Ultimately, The Byrds' experimentation with the country genre on Sweetheart of the Rodeo was slightly ahead of its time, to the detriment of the band's commercial fortunes, as the international success of country rock flavored bands like The Eagles, America, and Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show.

In 2003, the album was ranked #117 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
