Quote:
Degüello is the sixth studio album by the American rock band ZZ Top, released in 1979.

"Degüello" means "cut/slit someone's throat" or, idiomatically, when something is said to be done "a degüello", it means "no quarter" (as in "no surrender to be given or accepted--a fight to the death") in Spanish. It also was the title of a bugle call used by the Mexican Army at the Battle of the Alamo, Texas, in 1836.

Side A
1. "I Thank You" (Isaac Hayes, David Porter)
2. "She Loves My Automobile"
3. "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide"
4. "A Fool for Your Stockings"
5. "Manic Mechanic"

Side B
1. "Dust My Broom" (Robert Johnson) Original LP pressings of Degüello credited authorship to Elmore James.
2. "Lowdown in the Street"
3. "Hi Fi Mama"
4. "Cheap Sunglasses"
5. "Esther Be the One"
Sweet... just picked this one up. Sound great! My liner notes say "Dust My Broom (Elmore James)"... original pressing!

Never Die Young is singer-songwriter James Taylor's twelfth studio album, released January 1988, three years after his previous effort, That's Why I'm Here.
I saw it today and said "Hmm... I don't have any "new" James Taylor."

This "new" album is 28 years old.

Starland Vocal Band was the 1976 self-titled album by American pop band Starland Vocal Band, known primarily for "Afternoon Delight", one of the biggest-selling singles of 1976, featuring close harmony and sexually suggestive wordplay. It was written by Bill Danoff, one of the members of the band.

The song was a US #1 hit and the album also charted. They won two Grammy Awards: Best Arrangement for Voices and Best New Artist.

Concurrent with the Starland Vocal Band version, country singer Johnny Carver's cover went Top 10 on Billboard Hot Country Singles. In 1983, the Circle Jerks also covered it as one of the six covers on "Golden Shower of Hits (Jerks on 45)". The TV show Glee also covered it in their episode "Sexy".

The husband/wife duo of Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert also co-wrote the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" with John Denver, which became a hit single in 1971.

Son Owen Danoff is a contestant on this season of "The Voice".
A minty original pressing from a local artist in the 50c bargain bin today.

Fandango! is the fourth album by the American blues rock band ZZ Top, released in 1975.

Half the tracks are selections from live shows, the rest are new songs from the studio.

The first track, "Thunderbird", was originally written and performed by the Nightcaps, a band formed in the 1950s. The Nightcaps distributed the song on their album Wine, Wine, Wine but never applied for copyright. ZZ Top began performing its version of the song in 1975, and has conceded that its version is lyrically and musically identical to the Nightcaps' song. The Nightcaps sued ZZ Top for copyright infringement, but their claims were dismissed because ZZ Top had registered a copyright on the song in 1975.

The only single released from the album was "Tush", the band's first top 40 single.

Asia is the self-titled debut studio album by British rock supergroup Asia, released in 1982. It contains their biggest hit and signature song, "Heat of the Moment".

It was the #1 album in the United States for the year 1982.

Asia's logo and cover artwork were created by Roger Dean, known for his work with Yes (of which guitarist Steve Howe and keyboard player Geoff Downes had previously been members) and Uriah Heep (of which bassist/vocalist John Wetton had previously been a member) which depicts a leviathan gazing into a crystal orb.

The band was formed in 1981 as a supergroup of four members from different progressive rock bands: John Wetton (former bassist/vocalist of bands including King Crimson, Family, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, UK and Wishbone Ash), Steve Howe (guitarist of Yes), Geoff Downes (keyboardist of Yes and The Buggles) and drummer Carl Palmer (of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and Atomic Rooster). With their debut album reaching No. 1 in several countries, Asia ranks as one of the most popular progressive rock bands in history.

Men and Women is the second album released by the British pop group Simply Red in 1987.

Simply Red is a British soul and pop band that has sold more than 50 million albums since the mid 1980s. Their style draws upon influences ranging from blue-eyed soul, New Romantic and rock to reggae and jazz. From their early days, the main driving force behind the band was singer/songwriter Mick Hucknall, who, by the time the band was disbanded in 2010, was the only original member left.

Huckner's mother abandoned the family when he was three (1963); the upheaval caused by this event inspired him to write "Holding Back the Years," which would become one of Simply Red's biggest and best-known hits. It would not be until the mid-1990s that he would finally reconnect with his mother, Maureen, who was by then living in Dallas. He has only seen her on two occasions since she first abandoned the family.

Huckner has been described by critic Trevor J. Leeden as "one of the truly great blue-eyed soul singers".

Quote:
Thirty Three & 1/3 is the seventh studio album by English musician George Harrison, released in November 1976.

Harrison was waylaid with hepatitis midway through recording. Harrison later said: "I needed the hepatitis to quit drinking." A copyright infringement suit regarding his 1970–71 hit song "My Sweet Lord" was decided in favor of the plaintiff, Bright Tunes Music, who contended that Harrison had infringed on their copyright of the Chiffons' song "He's So Fine". A New York judge ruled that Harrison had "subconsciously plagiarised" part of the melody in his 1970 composition. Despite the problems associated with the album, many music critics recognized Thirty Three & 1/3 as a return to form for Harrison after his poorly received work during 1974–75.

The title for the new album reflected his age at the time of recording, as well as the speed at which the vinyl LP would play on a turntable.
