ray conniff and the singers, 'bridge over troubled water'.

Columbia reel to reel tape, cover songs, no box (or date), 3 3/4 ips, sounds ok.
bought 5 used r2r tapes from a guy near seattle. i'm not fan of ray conniff but the rest of the guys selection was worse. i got a few good ones.

machine still has slight w&f, bummer. it diminishes towards middle of tape, tho. ?
have to do some work on it.

Three LPs played today - while working at home on a research project:

Ricky Lee Jones
: Pirates (1981 LP, Warner BSK 3432). Just fascinating music - and stunning audio engineering.

Earth, Wind & Fire: I Am (1979 LP, Columbia FC 35730). Fascinating blend of boogie-and-elegance, admittedly it's a trip down memory lane.

Moussorgsky: Night on Bald Mountain; Pictures at an Exhibition (1979 LP, Telarc 10042). The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel - the performances of both pieces are extremely fine, colorful yet crisp; the Telarc digital audio engineering is bold and stunning.

Bruce Springsteen - "The Wild, The innocent and the E Street Shuffle"

Haven't played this in it's entirety in years! Usually I just play "Sandy" on the 4th of July. I'll put on "Greetings from Asbury Park" afterwards.

stanley clarkes' 'modern man'.

ca '77, vinyl; a favorite; after i first heard this 30 years ago, i tried to emulate his playing, decided i couldnt come close; then i wanted an alembic bass but way too pricey. kept my p-bass.
now im a happy listener.
