Since you like both Schon and Jan Hammer (you did mention "Wired", which he has a big part in), I hope you at least have "Untold Passion", their first duet album.

Not sure. I have the Cisco and a recent Japanese pressings, both on vinyl, of Aja but never bought the MFSL vinyl of that album. I do have a number of others on both vinyl and CD and they are both phenomenal. Between the Cisco vinyl and MFSL CD Aja, there was a little more compression on the MFSL CD version.

I don't often buy MFSL vinyl anymore unless it is not available on CD and rare. For instance, I bought a King Crimson, "Court of the Crimson King," on vinyl "sealed," which cost me a lot, but I am a huge fan of that album. I wanted to get as close to the original analog sessions as possible before they were remastered again by band members...

My other MFSL is Weather Report's Heavy Weather.

I was thinking - this thread is sort of an extemporaneous non-sequitor - what if we did "Desert Island discs"? You know, like Stereophile does - the Cds/LPs you would want with you if you were stranded on a desert island.

Here's some of mine, off the top of my head:

Chicago Transit Authority,
Mahavishnu Orchestra (John McLaughlin) - Visions of the Emerald Beyond,
Aimee Mann - I'm with Stupid,
PJ Harvey - Dry,
Soundgarden - Superunknown,
Salt - Auscultate,
Radiohead - In Rainbows,
Juliana Hatfield - Only Everything

I'll think of some more later

I wouldn't want any discs on a desert island. If I somehow found myself stranded on a desert island I would figure it was time for me to spend most of my remaining living days just meditating under a banyan tree. Why else would God have put me there so suddenly?

Hour ago:
Heart - "Dreamboat Annie" on vinyl
Now:
Traffic - "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" on vinyl.

My Heart album above, has always had a warp on the vinyl. Probably shrink-wrapped too tight after pressing. Kept meaning to get a new copy but never did...tried layering weights on it to flatten it out but...anyone ever successfully taken a warp record and made it flat?

Man, that version of "To Lay Me Down" on Reckoning is so tender...

To Lay Me Down

Lyrics: Robert Hunter
Music: Jerry Garcia

To lay me down once more, to lay me down
With my head in sparkling clover
Let the world go by, all lost in dreaming
To lay me down one last time, to lay me down

To be with you once more, to be with you
With our bodies close together
Let the world go by, like clouds a-streaming
To lay me down one last time, to lay me down

To lay me down, to lay me down
To lay me down one last time, to lay me down

To lie with you once more, to lie with you
With our dreams entwined together
To wake beside you, my love still sleeping
To tell sweet lies one last time and say goodnight

To lay me down, to lay me down
To lay me down one last time, to lay me down

"It is worse still to be ignorant of your ignorance."
