I'm not sure if it will make a difference with this particular album, but sometimes the mastering is different between the CD and vinyl...

If you are a big Metallica fan Nuance, Steve Hoffman remastered Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning for DCC and released them on compact disc, they are expensive but are well done IMO and can be found on Ebay (they have been out of print for awhile). Also, there are the recent vinyl releases of Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets pressed by Mobile Fidelity on 45s (though not under the Mobile Fidelity name for some reason...). Soon to be released is Justice For All on those 45s as well (that was the junction point at which my interest in Metallica waned; I liked Garage Days Revisited, but didn't like Justice For All very much, though I still pre-ordered the 45...)

I know the special edition vinyl comes with a CD, I'm hoping it is well mastered and doesn't have the horseshit-pop-album mastering most new albums receive now a days. I like the Flaming Lips a lot, but I have a headache after listening to that DVD-A, it was compressed and limited so badly...

Yeah it does! This is my first time listening to it since I bought it; it cost me a lot; it is an exceptionally rare MFSL CD.

Nuance, looking at the brickwall compression used on the mainstream Death Magnetic CD release that have been posted online, I can tell you that the vinyl version won't be like that for sure. It just isn't possible to do that to vinyl. Literally, it can't be done due to limitations of the media... This is one of those scenarios where the limitations of vinyl are a good thing, sadly, for the wrong reasons, i.e. - people abusing the CD medium. This is exactly why I got into vinyl again after not using it since the early 80s...

Hopefully the CD that comes with the Deluxe Death Magnetic set will also be using the vinyl master and not the mainstream master. If not, I'll have to use my Tascam DV RA1000HD to transfer the vinyl to a CD for archiving...

Funny enough, I've been listening to a lot of Dead on Sirius. They've started adding some interesting tapers sets from people who snuck in recorders in the 70s. I love that kind of stuff...

I'll always miss Dead tour...

Not yet. I've had a hard time getting music downloads from online sites with my Mac, and I'm too lazy to put in the research... Well, not really, I'm actually taking four classes right now (Calculus 3, Engineering Physics, Statics, and CAD 1) as prerequisites for an MS degree I'm interested in taking, so I just don't have much time.

I do have all the Dick's Picks and live concert masterboard CDs they released though!

That's probably around 50 or more cherry picked concerts on CD.
