Eric Clapton & Friends "The Breeze" An Appreciation To JJ Cale. Excellent recording. Includes Mark Knopfler, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and a host of other singers. It's 2 vinyl records but just 3 sides. The 4th side has no music but has an impression of a guitar implanted on the record. If you like the JJ Cale sound you'll love this album. A fitting tribute.

Mariani - Anthology Ant 4.11

While Eric Johnson's first appearance is ok, what's of particular interest is the included bootleg 'Live In Texas' - a tribute to JH. EJ gigged around a lot where I used to live and saw him do quite a few of these Hendrix tributes.

I bought this LP directly from the distributor in Austin in '75. Was fortunate enough to see EJ in this fusion band at a small bar.

Eric Johnson - Tones

EJ finally got recognition with this LP. Glad we got to see him through the years at small bars - favorite being him solo playing acoustic at a coffee house on campus with six other friends making up the audience.

I mentioned It's a Beautiful Day - Live at the Fillmore '68 album I saw on Amazon recently (after I had played their eponymous album for the umpteenth time the other day I just went looking for what else is readily available), and went ahead and ordered it. It's a surprisingly good recording (wasn't worried about the performance so much) and big bonus, it comes with a dvd "The David LaFlamme Story" also a pretty good production. Highly recommended for the $16.48 for someone who wants a taste of what It's a Beautiful Day had going....

I always wondered which came first, "Bombay Calling" or Deep Purple's "Child in Time", so I just looked it up. Turns out Ian Gillan admits he got the riff from It's a Beautiful Day. I've got both of them around here somewhere...
