What you got back home, little sister, to play your fuzzy warbles on? I bet you got little save pitiful, portable picnic players. Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited.

Have you found others that you like? The 5.1 and the 2.0 versions of this are both nice. I do not generally listen to jazz, but I am glad I found this one.

Fireballet - Night On Bald Mountain

Later in the 70s - with crappy AOR on the air waves - after the birth of punk and the dearth of prog I listened to a local college FM station's show that focused on prog/avant-garde/jazz and would sometimes showcase some US prog stuff. With cassette deck recording I was able to be exposed to a lot of music that would be otherwise unattainable. And so it was a different time.

"Night On Bald Mountain (Suite)" from this release made it on quite a few second and third generation mix tapes.

Wow. This looked so familiar that I dug out a box of albums that I haven't seen in 20 years or more and sure enough I found it. Produced by Ian McDonald of King Crimson and Foreigner fame. (It's nice being able to read liner notes without a magnifying glass. )
