Songs in the Key of Life is the eighteenth album by American recording artist Stevie Wonder, released on September 28, 1976, by Motown Records.

An ambitious double LP with a four-song bonus EP [titled A Something's Extra (containing "Saturn", "Ebony Eyes", "All Day Sucker" and "Easy Goin' Evening (My Mama's Call)"], Songs in the Key of Life became among the best-selling and most critically acclaimed albums of his career.

Highly anticipated, the album surpassed all commercial expectations. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart on October 8, 1976, becoming only the third album in history to achieve that feat (the other two albums were by Elton John). It was the album with the most weeks at number one during the year, blocking four other albums from reaching the top – Boz Scaggs’s Silk Degrees, Earth, Wind & Fire's Spirit, Led Zeppelin's soundtrack for The Song Remains the Same, and Rod Stewart's A Night on the Town. On January 15, 1977, the album finally dropped to number two behind Eagles' Hotel California.

Wonder was nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, an award that he had already won twice. Stevie had traveled to Nigeria to explore his musical heritage. A satellite hook-up was arranged so that Stevie could be awarded his Grammys from across the sea. Bette Midler announced the results during the ceremony, and the audience was only able to see Wonder at a phone smiling and giving thanks. The video signal was poor and the audio inaudible. Andy Williams went on to make a public blunder when he asked the blind-since-birth Wonder, “Stevie, can you see us?

Wonder won Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Producer of the Year.

In 2005, it was ranked number 57 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In the same year it was preserved into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress, which called it "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
The 4-song EP is missing from my album (empty slot but the lyric booklet is still there). OMG, this is a great Sunday morning spin.

Can't Buy a Thrill is the debut album by American rock band Steely Dan, released in November 1972.

The album was originally released in two-channel stereo and also in a special four-channel quadraphonic mix. There are some significant musical differences between the two mixes, such as extra lead guitar fills in the quad mix of "Reelin' in the Years".

This is the only Steely Dan album to include David Palmer as a lead vocalist, having been recruited after Donald Fagen expressed concerns over singing live. Drummer Jim Hodder also chips in lead vocals. By the time recording of the next album began, the band and producer convinced Fagen to assume the full lead vocalist role.

The album cover includes an image of a line of prostitutes, standing in a red light area waiting for clients, chosen because of its relevance to the album title. Walter Becker and Donald Fagen commented on the album art in their liner notes to The Royal Scam, saying that the album possessed "the most hideous album cover of the seventies, bar none (excepting perhaps Can't Buy a Thrill)."

Flick of the Switch is an album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It was the band's eighth international studio album. Recorded Nassau, Bahamas, April 1983, the same studio where they had recorded Back in Black with Robert John "Mutt" Lange in 1980. Released 15 August 1983. The band members state that the album was an attempt to make the band raw again, and were happy with the result.

All songs on Flick of the Switch were written by Malcolm Young (guitar), Angus Young (guitar), and Brian Johnson (vocals). Drummer Phil Rudd, after having problems with Malcolm as well as drugs and alcohol, was fired midway through the album's recording sessions, although he had completed his drum parts.

The Flick of the Switch cover features a simple, pencil-drawn picture of Angus that he himself had originally sketched out to reflect the simple, raw approach of the album, and Atlantic Records hated it. Angus had also wanted the album graphics to be embossed, but Atlantic did not want to spend the money because they believed the album contained no hit singles.

Flick of the Switch isn't quite the monster blowout that 1980's Back in Black was, teeters on self-plagiarism at times." Steve Huey of AllMusic observes, "As perhaps indicated by the record's idiotic original title, the utterly generic I Like to Rock, AC/DC seemed to be running out of ideas at an alarming rate, and their record sales began to reflect that fact." Malcolm Young later said of the LP, "It was thrown together real quick. I wouldn't say it's a great album..."

Welcome to the Pleasuredome is the debut studio album (double LP) by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, released on 29 October 1984.

While commercially successful, the album drew criticism for containing new versions of all of the songs from the group's hit singles from the same year ("Relax", "Two Tribes", "War"), as well as cover versions in lieu of much new original material. Trevor Horn's production dominated the record so thoroughly that the band's own instrumental performances were often replaced by session musicians or Horn himself.

On 11 January 1984, BBC Radio 1 disc jockey Mike Read was playing the record on his show when he noticed the front cover design. Read apparently became outraged by the "overtly sexual" nature of both the record sleeve and the printed lyrics, which prompted him to remove the disc from the turntable live on air, branding it "obscene."

Two days later the BBC banned the record from all its TV and radio outlets. "Relax" immediately shot to Number One in the UK charts.
