I am looking into getting a pair of the Cerwin Vega CLS-12's. I am not sure exactly what to buy in terms of an external amp or receiver that will allow me to drive the speakers to there max/best ability. For some reason I can't find the impedance for these speakers on the company's website either. Anyways, the specs provided are shown below, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Per speaker:
Frequency Response: 28 Hz - 20 kHz
Peak Power Handling: 300 watts
Sensitivity (1w/1m): 92 dB
6 1/2" Midrange with Fiber Impregnated Cone
1" Soft Dome Tweeter with Ferro Fluid
12" Cast Frame High Excursion Woofer
Proprietary Mid and High Frequency Waveguide
Fuse Protection
Elegant Black-Ash Enclosure

so what was it... 4 ohms? Most of the "red surround" Cerwin Vega speakers were 4 ohm speakers. That's partly why they had such high sensitivity. I have an old pair of 280SE speakers which were one of their rare 6 ohm units. However, even those were a fairly difficult speaker to drive. Most of my cheap receivers that I've had over the years would always go into protection mode even at modest volume levels. Get a good robust amp that loves 4 ohm loads and those speakers will absolutely crank. I dj small parties with mine.

They are rated at 8 ohms. I found an amp that puts out 210 watts per channel at 8 ohms. It's the cv-900 made by Cerwin Vega. Not sure if this would be a good amp or not. Haven't found anything that is a 2 channel amp closer to 300 watts. I was told that underpowering the speakers may damage them. Is that true? It doesn't seem to make sense at all to me.
