I recently purchased a Harman Kardon HK3490, a pair of Polk Audio TSi200 bookshelf speakers and a Velodyne DLS-3500R sub. I currently have the amp ran to the speaker inputs on the sub to take advantage of the subs high-pass filter and then ran from the sub's speaker outs to the bookshelf speakers. It sounds very nice to me but I am wondering if i should maybe be doing it some other way for better results. ( i.e. bi-wire)

Bi-wire? With your current setup, that would mean bi-wiring from the HK to the sub and, again, from the sub to the Polks. IMHO: I big waste of time, bother and money.

OTOH, you might want to consider using the HK's "Preamp Outputs and Main Amp Inputs" (see page 21) and loop these through the Velodyne's RCA inputs/outputs rather than using all that speaker wire.

Personally, I think you have the right approach right now. Mostly because you write that 'it sounds fine'

On the other hand, this is how we learn. While I agree that bi-wiring is questionable at best, I believe that the process of experimenting, paying attention to the results writing about it and getting feedback is a great way to learn first-hand what it is you really want out of your system.

No matter what- have fun!
