Generally not needed. I've checked a ton of SS amps that were 20 or more years old that still meet origional spec for 20 Hz power, which is a good way to evaluate PS caps.

For example, the Pass SA4 that I mentioned in a previous post showed absolutely no deterioration of the power supply caps in bench tests. I believe the build date was more than 15 years ago.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have guessed they would last that long.

i believe nelson pass recommends 10-15 years. i would change before they "pop". my SA4/e and 3.9/e were changed at about 13 years. i did notice an improvement (though some other parts were changed as well as the caps).
