I recently upgraded my gs20 speakers to pl300. Things sounded a little 'off' and I blamed my amp for not being powerful enough.
After some experimentation I know think the greater transparency of my new speakers is actually high lighting defects earlier in the signal chain.
I added a naim 282 preamp (on loan) instead of mine and that made a huge difference. Much more controlled, agile, sharp.
So I've decided to keep my poweramp and change the preamp (or stop using the integrated one in my cdp to be precise)
I want a preamp that has ht bypass and Classe cap500 is one that I've read good things about. I was wondering if anybody here has one and could give some feedback?
Kit: Quad CDP2 (has integrated pre) Quad 909 pwr amp, monitor audio pl300.
