Here's a close-up of my Art Audio PX25 SET amp that puts out a whopping 6 watts/channel. Yes, you read that right - six watts. Good thing my speakers are 97db efficient.

The little Energy speakers which you see on top of the Dynaudios are not there anymore. This pic was taken just to show the difference in size.

I changed a couple of things. Sold the HK receiver and bought a Parasound Zpre2 preamp and an HCA-1000A amp.

Best part is due to sales competition, I only paid $170 for the whole thing...
Focal 836
Cambridge 550a
Cambridge DacMagic
Sonos ZP90
AppleTV

Most of the use is an iPad sent through Airplay with the Sonos being used as a tuner.

Because of where I work (discounts...) I use all Monster M-Audio cables that are time aligned...

The 550 is a little weak, so with the next comp I plan on an 850 int.

i think a bout get tube pre-amp and go with emotiva xpa-2(300w/channel) to push my focal and pair with cdp erc-1
please, be advised, how about pathos tube amp, are they any good

Is the emotiva any good? The price worries me... I know audio has around a 100% markup, so I kinda see how they can be as cheap as they are. I just wonder if all the people who hype them do it cause of price, or because they own it and don't want to admit they bought crap, or don't know any better...

Here's my new, in-process setup with Vandersteen 5As.

The 5As have such great bass response, the SuperSubs are now driven by only the LFE channel.

Just a pair of Samson Media ONE 4a monitors.

This is the Buffalo II DAC. Setup is PC -> Asus Xonar D2 sound card -> SPDIF coaxial cable -> Buffalo II DAC -> RCA cable -> Samson monitors. PS3 via optical cable goes into optical in of Asus D2.

Monitors are for an upgrade soon

Looking good! I love the hinged screen... I was planning on doing something similar with my HT room. How are you latching it? Is it a pita to raise/lower?

Also I have to add, nice subs!

Nice. What are you using to cross over the speakers? Line level built into the sub?

Yes. The H/K doesn't have a built in crossover but the velodyne sub does. It actually allows me to cut at 80Hz or 100Hz but Dr. Hsu designed his speakers for 80Hz and above.

And thanks!

This is my system setup in a SE Florida open floor plan design using the family room as a media room (14'-10"W X17'5"L X12'H). A kitchen area to the rear, and a breakfast nook at rear right wall. It's used primarily for stereo listening although we do watch movies on the wall mounted plasma HD.

Raidho Ayra C3.0 speakers, Lindemann amplification, Cary CD/SACD digital source supported by a solid "system foundation" (symmetrical system setup, room acoustics, power conditioning, synergistic cabling, resonance control) optimizing equipment performance.

The audio rack (Solidtech ROS Ref 4) positioned left rear of the listening position contains all ancillary equipment except the Lindemann 855 amp:
- Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player
- Integra DTC-9.8 Pre/Pro
- Cary 306 CD/SACD player supported by Solidtech FOS
- Lindemann 830S Preamp supported by Nordost Ti pulsar points
- Nordost Quantum QX4 power conditioner
- Isoclean 80A3 power distributor

Rives Audio level 2 acoustic design plan: 4 diffuser "clouds" utilizing RPG BAD templates suspended from listening room ceiling; absorber cloud suspended from hallway ceiling at rear of listening room acoustically isolates kitchen; ASC and Echobuster absorber panels for side wall reflections; absorber panels mounted to rear walls of upper decorator areas in kitchen and listening room; diffuser panels in front of breakfast nook French door and etched glass window; wool area rugs for absorption on the wood floor between the speakers and listening chairs, the tile floor under the table in the breakfast nook, and the rear hallway tile floor; cellular shades for absorption on the butt-glass window in the breakfast nook.

Nice job on the OB's, AJ. Good looking room, too. Is that a waveguided Vifa?

Circa 2004/05, I take it things have changed since then. Question, did that wall behind the LP give you problems? I have a situation like that, I pulled my couch a few feet forward and treated wall. My coffee table gets booted to the side during listening as well.

Yes. And XLS-12's shoehorned in there, not 10's. Hence "inspired by", not "Orions".

Yep, room has shrunk and speakers have grown.

Nope. Pulled the sofa out around a foot and had a couple large canvas paintings hiding insulation behind them. Not shown in that old pic.

Mine doesn't, but there is a plan for that too, as what you are looking at above is stage one of maybe five. I'm only just getting started at the new place. It will be a while before it all gets done.

cheers,

AJ

p.s. forgot about the pair of Rythmik Servosubs too...old place look...and new. 4x15" IB subs hidden behind the sofa which back up to a bedroom /closet directly behind. Not by chance either. Point blank range means no modes to deal with.
