Here is the latest rendition of my 2-channel rig. I've had this little PC music server I built sitting around for a couple years. My issue was wanting a control that didn't require a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Well everything came together recently and now it is a fully functional remote controlled music server.

PC windows based playing FLAC files via Foobar2000. It is controlled by an iPad running a Foobar2000 app; MonkeyMote.

You can't really see the turntable in that pic but:

From the top-
Clearaudio Champion II turntable fitted with an SME309 arm and Benz Micro Glider cart
Shanling CD-T1500 tube SACD
McIntosh C36 preamp
DIY music server
PS Audio Quintessence Power Center
On the floor -
Shanling SP-80 mono block amps fitted with 6CA7 "fat bottle" outputs
Speakers are DIY three way

Don't be hate'n. Not many start out at the top. Most systems are built up over time. I know I didn't have anything close to what I have now, even 10 years ago.

+1. It took me 20+ years to get my current rig. I enjoyed every step of the way..

Agreed. Took me 6 years to get this far, and I have a looooong way to go... but the ride so far has been excellent as my system slowly evolves.

Much better this way.

I desired to venture into other subforums on here. I'm really impressed at some of the setups in here. I'm actually only about a 1/3rd through the thread but figured I'd post my "2-channel" setup. Technically it's a 2 channel it's just not a speaker system. For a fraction of the cost it's phenomenal sounding and by using the Sennheiser setup I can get the great open sound and if I want ridiculous bass and a closed sound I just throw on the Denon's.

Source is a heavily loaded HTPC.

DAC/AMP
Audio-GD FUN

Headphones
Denon AH-D7000
Sennheiser HD600
(with cabling upgrade)
Grado SR-80 (not pictured)

My Setup
Stage 1 - Enthusiasm
Stage 2 - Realism
Stage 3 - Obsession
Stage 4 - Acceptance

Which stage are you on?

Hi all,
I'm up to about version 2.2 of my music room acoustical treatments and the gear is as follows:
* old crumby Sony 5 disk CD player
* Lightspeed Attenuator (fabulous passive preamp from Australia)
* Art Audio PX25 SET amp (6watts/ch.)
* FAB Audio Model 1 (97dB efficient left/right main speakers)
* Two Rythmik Audio F15 subs (15" aluminum drivers, 370watts Class A/B each, servo controlled)
* OmniMic acoustical measurement tool
* TG Audio interconnects and speaker cables; Audience power cords

Acoustical treatment strategy: diffuse and/or reflect mid/high frequencies to maintain sense of 'liveliness', and absorb low frequencies. Have invested in RPG Skylines (ceiling) and GIK Tri-Traps and Monster Bass Traps and their D1 diffusers. Have built several curved hemi-cylindrical diffusers that double as bass traps and also a largeish Skyline diffuser using wooden 2"*2"'s. Have built reflective side wall baffles that open-close betweeen 0-90 degrees and have three rows of them on each side wall so that different ones can be opened different amounts. Many hours of thought, design, and trial and error.

I like it. You've got a great amount of attention to detail. With no windows and one chair, this must be your escape room?

McIntosh Labs! What am I listening to?

Thanks Bill for you compliments. I did indeed try to think through the room issues, and while it's taken some time, the attention to details as you say has sonically paid off. The room sounded awful when untreated, but with curved and angled surfaces for diffusion and reflections and absorption of bass the room is now working for me and not against me, so to speak.

if you don't mind me asking, do you have any ETC response that shows the decay trail with all of that diffusion?

thanks!

Hello Everyone, In the past several months, I have upgraded several pieces in my system. I have added a Playback Designs MPS-5 CD/SACD Player, and have upgraded my Evolution Acoustics Speakers from the MMTwo, to the MMThree model (adding the upper woofer modules). So I wanted to share some more pics:

My 2.1 set-up in a spare 12x14 spare bedroom.
Used when the wife watches the "big brother","bachelorette" etc

Equipment:
Paradigm Studio 40 v4/or Sierra One (I switch them around)
Paradigm DSP-3200 sub (PBK'd for flat freq response)
Outlaw Audio RR 2150 2channel stereo rcvr with bass mgmt
Sony ce-595- 5cd carousel SACD player
Harman Kardon DMC-1000-Hard drive music server with
-about 400 cd's on it. (mostly classic rock)
Sony Mini-Disc player/recorder
Dell 20" HDMI computer monitor
- (displays album artwork from the DMC-1000)

Sounds pretty darn good.

Very, very nice.

I know we've corresponded via threads and PM, and discussed many things, however you're attention to all detailed aspects in your particular room is impressive. I'm particularly interested in the angled, redirected lateral reflection points. Typically, I prefer and recommend attenuation of ceiling energy between mains and the LP if appropriate, as I've found it tends to obfuscate some detail via smearing. However in your scenario, with the side panels redirecting lateral energy upward, I can see the interest in additional diffusion. Bottom line, I'd very much enjoy hearing your system in the environment you've created.

Also, as a fellow OmniMic user, I'm interested in your opinion of it.

Thanks and again, love the space.
